Modded SEG has just arrived! Yeh... And PSU from Tony. One heavy PSU.
Have it playing at school (an expensive piece of equipment for a classroom).
Will let it loosen up over the next 4 days, and take it home on Friday. Left it on loop with Matter of Gender by The Associates! lol Will take it home over the weekend, where I can set it up. We have Labour Day on Monday.
Running from a RWAK100s (red Wine Modded AK100) into my Grado SR325 headphones. Using a cheap Monster optical cable.
First impression. Smooth, quiet, detailed. Not what I usually use, so not really a comparison of any kind as I don't know the sound (never use the Grado headphones anymore).
Will have more of an idea over the weekend how it sounds on my main system.

Great news I think you really notice the difference when you set it up in your system

Give it plenty of time to settle and leave it powered up for several days. Tony's PSU takes much longer than the SEG to come on song.

I found the that the SEG, whilst it has an excellent headphone output, it is so much better when you connect it using the RCA/Phono outputs to an amplifier with speakers or a separate headphone amplifier.

I may have under-called it. Further listening reveals a decent step up in sonics over the standard sockets. How much were the RCA sockets please Martin?

Not much at all, and well worth it if you're handy with a soldering iron.
Please PM Stan for a quote.

The best thing about today was getting the clocked/supercapped SEG, supercapped PSU, Halide Bridge and cable.
Second best thing? Giving my class of 9-11 year olds the large bubble wrap to pop... Something strangely pleasurable about doing that...

Giving my class of 9-11 year olds the large bubble wrap to pop... I can't match that, but it's very satisfying doing the report run after redesigning all our parental report marksheets and templates for the new GCSE 9-1 grading system here in the UK. Running off a few thousand pages is making my office smell deeply of ozone!

Damn, hope everything is ok. Whew! It's all there still. But going home with me tonight! Is the only drawback about teaching where lots of people are struggling. They have to do things to survive.

Whoa lucky, all that struggle to get it and.... Its still there Might be a positive with non standard equipment, people dont see them as easily sold goods, read another story of a break in, guy had turntables and equipment looking like UFOs made out of brass, still there, burglars just dont know what it is.

Good news.
Hopefully we all have that with non standard looking kit and odd looking names - for thieves anyway
