Na its just an SME 'M2-R' with different headshell. Orsonic or summert! Ah, I thought the bearing housing was different. I'm not familiar with the M2-R.

Don't like em tbh Martin, much much prefer the looks of the old '3009' S2,Imp.. The new ones just do not look right with straight arm tubes to me.

Ooh, a Kenwood. I adore those decks. Form follows function.

I added the Audio Technica AT666 vacuum platter to mine, alongside some AT636 Isolation feet. Oh, and an SME V...
It certainly is the best t/t I've owned, and probably as good as I'll ever need.

Very nice. Is that the original Trio/Kenwood arm on the right hand side?

It is. The picture shows a ZU version of the Denon 103 cart: It now has a Benz Glider on it.

How does it compare with the SME, in your opinion?

They're quite different in terms of presentation: the Trio arm seems to give a more robust sound (it certainly suits rock and jazz), the SME more cerebral and detailed (I prefer it with orchestral music). They're both great though. As always, YMMV.

I find my Dynavector matches the sound you quote for the Trio arm. I far prefer it to the sound I was getting from the SME IV I used to have, which was a little grey (albeit on a different deck with a different cartridge). Always hard to compare these things. It certainly trounced the Jelco 250 it directly replaced.

That Kenwood looks like a proper tt to me - no pretence or bling about it, just really solid engineering.. Would love to hear one someday.

Here is an update on my SL1200 Mk2. It now sits on a proper wall shelf, and is fully "Funkified" with the Spin bearing, Strata platter, Achromat, Bo!ng feet and the FX-1200 arm. Other mods include the LDA external PSU, strobe and pitch slider disabled. It's pretty much finished now. It's fitted with a Audio Silente 4mm HDG spacer and an AT33PTG/II which I have loaded at 175 ohms and it sounds pretty good to me. I still hanker after a different type of deck, but my limited funds for what I would like means that will have to wait quite some time, if it ever happens.

Looks very nice indeed Brian... I've recently been bitten by the vinyl bug again, good and proper this time and its costing me a fortune in new/second hand records!

Hah ! Me too Pete , although I'm trying to limit myself to one album a month which is proving difficult Thanks Ali , I think mine is sounding pretty good at the moment , and I'm looking forward to fitting a few judicious upgrades provided by those nice people at Lenco Heaven .

Lenco Heaven is a fantastic resource and such a gift to anyone wanting to get a top class deck on budget money. Long may it prosper.
