The boss had problems recently. Contacted Doctor's surgery, had advice, got worse, had a GP phone call who immediately wrote a letter for her to take to A&E. A&E spent a long time diagnosing and found the likely culprit
Friday our own GP rang her to check how she was, to explain blood test results and generally be a great bloke
Good old NHS
but wait
We have to tell all these people, *must* we really appreciate them
Not only to counter the crap they have to put up with but to keep them sane and on track
Not just the NHS, everyone that is good must be told they are good, great, wonderful or anything else that will help them along

I got a phone call from my GP at 08:30 today, as a follow-up to my visiting the nurse on Friday. He took a look at my blood test results and told me the Metformin wasn't doing a thing for me, and he'd need to put me on something else in addition to it. I quietly explained that the blood test results he was looking at must be from before I actually started on the Metformin, which was why the Metformin didn't appear to be working, and I hadn't, in fact, had any blood tests since, and that the nurse actually seemed quite pleased with me. " Ah, yes, right, sorry," says he, " we'll keep it under observation then". I told him I'd made some adjustments to my diet, and was trying to be proactive about the whole thing. " Well, I know you're a sensible chap, Paul, " he replied, giving away the fact that he doesn't actually know me at all. we exchanged some (very) brief pleasantries, and he hung up. Two minutes late, if that, and he rang back. He forgot to ask me to call the surgery in a fortnight to arrange a hospital appointment for more blood tests. Sitting here writing this has made me think of what the next problem is going to be. I'll ring about blood tests and the medical secretary, or whoever, is going to ask " Do you know what he wanted you to be tested for?" To which I will have to say no. Maybe I can just ask her to repeat the last one. I can't remember if it was three or four ampoules worth. I do remember thinking of Tony Hancock though. “ A pint? … That’s very nearly an armful”.

I submitted an eConsult on 07-Jun and finally received a response on 22-Jun. If this is their way to reduce the number of face-to-face appointments, it doesn't really inspire confidence.
Now I have an appointment on Tue morning to see the doctor. Slightly apprehensive.

Been trying to speak to the boss's specialist after her tests and at the time we were told she would have an appointment. Phone message unanswered. Email unanswered. Another go tomorrow

My NHS-connected app (Evergreen) has just announced, with a flourish, that all my medical records have been incorporated into one database. Excellent.
The very first entry in my record is "Blood pressure recorded by patient at home". It's dated the day I was born.
Gosh, I was a clever little chappie able to record my own blood pressure even then!

Starting that young you should at least be a Consultant by now, Martin. What went wrong?

Once again, I have been well treated by the NHS and Basingstoke Hospital. Went in early this morning for a colonoscopy, which is not the most fun you can have, but was attended to by yet another high ranking consultant and lovely nurses who couldn't have been nicer.
Amazed and terrified at their hi-res camera images of my insides, together with running commentary for the intern.
The good news for me is all-clear for another 5 years.

The boss has had excellent treatment at Frimley Hospital. Can barely believe how good everyone has been, fast track or not.
This morning a nurse from our GP's surgery phoned her to check how she was and told her to ring if she had anything she wanted to talk about
Post op treatment from District Nurses was excellent with one hiccup
All our wonderful NHS

The NHS is currently doing a bang-up job of looking after my mum. She had a fall yesterday and the nursing home called an ambulance as a fall nearly always equates to a broken hip at 100 years of age. After x-rays and scans it's been determined that she hasn't broken anything, but they want to keep her in for a couple more days because they're worried about her blood pressure, which is almost always abnormal because she suffers, as do I, from "White Coat Syndrome". Full marks for thoroughness though.

She had a fall yesterday... Stroke, Paul, or just a simple unbalancing? It was a stroke that started my mum falling and losing control of the left side of her body.

At 100 she has to be " doing things" and always has. She has her regulat little jobs and was probably picking something up off of the floor.
