Coming home tonight, I came up behind a 13 reg A4 tdi. After a 30 mph area finished it trundled along for several miles at between 35-40 mph (national limit 60) until the next village with me patiently following at a safe distance.
After the village the 30 mph limit ends, and seeing a short straight I indicated to overtake, but as I accelerated he did as well, so I pulled back in. If he had maintained his pace it would have been OK, but again he slowed down to his 35-40mph pace.
Knowing the road well I planned to overtake on a straight bit after a bend, but as I speeded up he did too, it was like two cars at Santa Pod raceway.
Fortunately I got pass the dumbass and he slowed down again.
Why do people want to play games like this on a public highway ?

Err, I'd rather not thank you. What happens when the first infrastructure crash happens?

Idiots come in many forms - just been watching the effects of a sudden downpour in Wallington, and the idiot in a people carrier who thought he could drive through 6 feet of floodwater. He made it about half way before the car lifted off the ground and started to float away ! An Idiot

Good grief, an attempt at winning the Darwin award. What a complete bell end!

Classic. That should have given him a nice brisk swim to safety ...
Going back to the original post, I just see so much dangerous and aggressive driving by Audi drivers nowadays.
It looks like all the boy racers who used to drive VW Golfs appear to have 'upgraded' to Audis now.

Yes, I've noticed a big migration of bad drivers away from BMWs towards Audis. Didn't Jeremy Clarkson brand them as Audi Cocks?

Just a generalisation, Paul. I used to drive a BMW and got it in the neck quite frequently!

I'd consider an Audi if it was not for their rubbish automatic gearboxes.
The Multitronic (CVT) is terrible and I'm not impressed by twin clutch gearboxes either, reliability wise.
They might be OK if buying from new and selling before the warranty runs out.
I believe Quattro models of the bigger cars have a "proper" torque converter auto box from ZF, that's more like it.

My previous BMW 335d had a 6-speed ZF auto box with paddle shifts and that was superb, even when I remapped it for considerably more torque.

Mine is a Quattro model and believe has a ZF gearbox but it has to be said that it isn't the fastest on the market, there is certainly maybe a split second of delay before it engages which isn't the case with my Dad's BMW 330d, which appears as instant as they come. But that for me is the only critism of my Audi, otherwise I love it! The Quattro makes a mountain of difference, more than I would of imagined. My cousin has a similar 3.0 Audi but without the Quattro and when I had a go in it, I was amazed how little control it had in the corners. He says that it's especially scary in the wet. Where as I have never managed to beat the capability of mine in corners, I've tried to get it to slide in the dry and wet and it won't have a bar of it, in the snow it was possible, but only just and obviously at low speed because I ain't that stupid

I was amazed how little control it had in the corners. He says that it's especially scary in the wet. The BMW was a right handful in the wet and downright lethal on snow. Far too much torque (740nm) to the rear wheels resulting in fishtailing and a general desire to be in the hedge. It's all very well expounding the merits of rear wheel drive, but you don't want to be in a tail-out attitude on the public roads. The Honda, in comparison, is a revelation. It can take corners FAR more capably and with confidence than the BMW ever could and generally drives in a very precise go-kart style. It hardly notices the difference between dry and wet conditions, too.

Bad driving: Middle lane cruisers drive me up the wall. We have had it made illegal rather than just being part of the Highway Code for a few years now but I see it many times a day, every day on the M6, yet I have not once heard of the law being enforced.

I'll tell you what guys, if you did the hour drive I have to the factory everyday, you would I guarantee never ever complain about any driving on UK roads again. Scares the shit out of me and I'm not even driving. I try to bury my head in a book and ignore it. I'm keeping a log and so far I have never once got to my destination without passing an accident, often more than one. Thankfully most are rear end shunts, but 3 weeks ago there was a woman sprawled out who looked pretty lifeless to me. Hogging the middle lane? . . . . I wish

White van men hogging the right (overtaking) lane drive me up the wall. Perhaps the government did a deal without telling us?
