Hi Jamie welcome to TAS, it's great to have you here. What a delight to see you posting piccies right from the word go!! Thanks Chris, I love to post pics especially if ive been tinkering! I see your an AR fan, those speakers look great,i bet they sound good too, before the lp12 i used an AR The Turntable with a Mission 774,a good combo,i also have tucked away since the ditton 66's arrived a pair of KLH 23's speakers from the same vein as Acoustic Research, very good speakers.

Good to have you on board Jamie ...
Those are some man-sized speakers - love them!
The top-line Sony ES amps are great too ... I really regret selling on my mint condition 670ES - would have loved to have kept it for a future second system ...

Cheers Jules, Yep i very pleased with the Sony,i went from an old Sansui AU-505 which wasn't bad either The ditton 66's to be honest are a tad too big for my living room but i single so who cares! the back wall could really do with some room treatment.its on the too do list along with a decent wall shelf for the lp12.

I never thought of myself as an AR fan, but I suppose I'd have a hard time persuading anyone that I'm not with 3 pairs of their speakers in the house at the moment! I had a long procession of AR turntables through my hands when I first started messing about with hifi. I modified several of the original decks and had a couple of 'The Turntables', more Legends and an EB101. My last one was a Legend that I put a Zeta and Koetsu Black on and it sounded and looked fantastic. The classic KLH (and Allison) speakers are just as criminally forgotten as the ARs, aren't they? Still, that makes us the winners there!

Hi Jamie and welcome to TAS. The Ditton 66 are instantly recognisable, proper big speakers those. I can imagine that the Sony drives them well, and with an ABR they need it. Nice!

Still, that makes us the winners there! It certainly does! i paid £50 for my klh's,the bass is lovely, even better after i re-doped them.I think the only thing that lets them down is the tweeters although that could be because im used to the hf2000's in ditton 44's and 66's. My 'The Turntable' had too much play in the platter bearing,a shame as i had plans to re veneer in rosewood.i also made an ebony arm board for it which made a massive difference to the sonics. I tried the mission 774 on the lp12 but found the cable dressing an absolute nightmare so i bought the ittok and ive never really looked back since. With that said i do have an itch to try a Alphason HR100mcs one day but the Ittok/Nagaoka mp-500 sounds very good and the thought of setting it all up again does my head i

Thanks mike,no real reason,i found on line an old mana catalogue and saw the the two types listed so went for that, they have made a big difference to the sound from the 66's,tightened up the bass no end. I wonder what 3 platforms would sound like?

Hi Jamie and welcome. The LP12 looks strangely familiar, as I don't *think* Linn ever made later ones with the trim strip on the lid. I may have been at that sample in decades past if it's one of the pair I think it is...

I think you need to do a more fleshed out review please. You explained the difference of one track, but could you do some more along those lines?

hmm a bit tricky since i stopped listening to them 4 days ago,i didnt make notes either, for people like me who are useless at putting into words what they hear and what differences there are between cable A or B why not pm them prior to sending out loan gear with some pointers? it would have helped me,im only 2 years into serious hifi and dont have the experience you guys have.
