Pioneer PL71 with the stunning Denon PCL-5 headshell, which at 6.1g is one of the lightest ever produced. Really transforms the arm into something that works well with MM carts, in my case, a Reson Reca:

Sue has just found this whilst clearing the loft in anticipation of a move - inside "Genesis - the evolution of a rock band" by Armando Gallo My first HiFi at Uni - before I bought the Stax headphones and PT turntable Well well pinkie, I ripped up Armando's book and had them plastered over my wall as a 1st year on campus student , though judging by your photos you went to uni considerably earlier than me .My hifi was Phillips cd player , aracam amp and AR speakers .

The grilles look a little too close the edges - Videotone/Wharfedale? I still have a pair of Videotone Minimax 2.

I was using them until about a year ago on my PC. They sound fine, a little wispy in the treble but it was never the greatest tweeter.

Here's my old Strathclyde STD-305M still lurking upstairs, with SME III arm and a rather rare Dynavector 20A2 cartridge.
Very nice, Martin. I had an STD 305-S for many years partnered by a Moth tonearm. The deck was built like a tank - not a great thing of beauty but very functional and a big leap up from my first deck which was one of Dual's more humble offerings ...

Thanks. I must put it up for sale so that it gets a new home and is used again.

I'm using the Wharfedale Diamond 7 Pros on the PC and they are remarkably effective, even when watching films (driven by Rogers Ravensbrook). We were watching one of the Harry Potter films last night and some of the thumps and crashes were surprisingly loud and effective. Much fun to be had from the lesser equipment at times.

Thanks. I must put it up for sale so that it gets a new home and is used again. Just seen a 305-S with a 3009 arm advertised for £1000 at a local dealer! Utter madness...
