Hi All,
Rich here, some of you may know me as RichB/or Brit-Pop, depending upon which other forums you might participate in.
I actually joined here some time ago but there didn't seem to be very much going on initially so I sort of forgot about you, in time haven't you grown and there are some familiar names/faces here so maybe its time I get involved too.
Anyway, I expect I'll be familiar to many of you. For those who don't know me I like: Bass Playing, All kinds of music, gigs and Festivals, my e-cig, veggie curry. I don't like: Rudeness, provocation, paranoid personality disorders, Mondays (tell me why?)
System in a state of change again, as tends to happen every so often. Aiming to downsize to fund my bass habit. I am however currently enjoying a humongous Onkyo reference amp/receiver with my Rega squeakers. Other Audio bits I own: Benchmark DAC, Sabre DACs, Marantz CD Player (light mods), Somewhat modified Technics deck, Edingdale speakers, Chromecasts.

Hi Rich, Welcome to TAS from me, I thought you were already a member here but I must've got my wires crossed. I'm surprised we haven't met, given my 30 years of insane box swapping in the Newcastle area.

Thanks for the welcome chaps, nice to reacquaint with yous again.
Yes Chris, after a hiatus the Floyd band is back together with a refreshed line up and gigging again from the autumn. I've also recently joined up with these guys and looking forward to getting out on bass duties with them soon.
Hi singularity, surprised we haven't met. There's a good showing of sad old gits mucking around with their stereos in the North East,you may have heard of our occasional meetups elsewhere. Drop me a line if that's your thing.
Hey Orbscure, How's it going. I've still got that Croft pre. It's a keeper for me, sounds lovely with my vinyl.
As for wobble chops, I've no idea who you are and I hope I never run into you at some festival or other ;-)

I'm only a sad old bit on good days. Tragic old git most of the time but always love Lessing around with hifi. We must have mutual friends. It's too small a place not to. What else do you have right now? Pity you're keeping the Croft. My mate who is even older than me (I daren't say sadder) is after a Croft to pair with a Graaf power amp he's gone potty about. Not heard it myself yet but he's particularly fired up about it.

Yes I'm keeping the Croft for now, it's just a Micro Basic which I acquired from Orbscure last year. I don't think Croft make those anymore. The valves were upgraded by him I think and I haven't changed them. I will pair it with a mini-t amp and my deck for a simple vinyl only system in another room with the Edingdales.

Shame the JBL's didn't tickle your fancy, strange thing is that they are now back down in my neck of the woods and the guy who has them is over the moon with how they sound... go figure!!! Sums up this common interest of ours in a nutshell and how fickle kit can sound in one system to another... |

My mate has had a few Crofts and loves them. Somehow I've always managed to miss them. One day maybe.

They were an itch I needed to scratch and in my home they sounded wonderful but for reasons of domestic contentment and my own ever changing tastes they went the journey. I personally thought they were beautiful but that is in the eye of the beholder and marriages are built on compromises  . Their new owner has every reason to be happy. |
