And as I was taught during my apprenticeship - Screwdriver (Mechanical) N o 4 = Hammer. It somehow didn't seem out of place amongst the tools descriptions utilised by the Post Office, as it was then, e.g. " Screwdriver (Electrical) No1", and to this day I don't know why " Pliers, Wiring No2" were always referred to as eighty-ones. I can only assume it was some sort of historical reference.

Reminds me of something the health and safety officer of an organisation I once did some consultancy work for. During the investigation of the cause of a wood dust explosion in a piece of machinery: "I'm of a mind to call this an over-pressurisation event". (True story!)
