Nice day for a bike ride today - it seemed from the forecast No rain until 1pm, I'll be back by then. 7'c so dress appropriately. Just after 12 it starts to rain. Ok no big deal. Shortly after it turns starts to *rain* verging on biblical. I can cope. Then I notice the roads are covered in water as it hammers down. My showerproof gear is now soaked, hands freezing. One had to laugh at oneself for choosing to be out in this.

Does anyone have experience of colder countries in Winter? They seem to cope with snow and ice without fuss. What do they do different? How come Britain (with all its taxes-especially for road users) always gets in a total mess. Flights cancelled, trains taken off and roads either closed or turned into death traps. Winter is a big enough misery without weather related hassles adding to it. It’s all to do with the type of snow, we get very wet stuff that freezes easily. Scandinavian countries etc get very dry snow which is more powder like. That’s why airports and roads here have major issues, it’s because it either packs hard when driven on or it turns to ice. Simple really, it has nothing it do with equipment, it’s just very difficult to get rid of. I never knew this until I saw a weather man explain it last year, I, like everyone else blamed the local councils etc, but if you think about it he’s right 😉

They named a storm Dylan. I expect to see some answers. Or is it just going to rain hard?

They named a storm Dylan. I expect to see some answers. Or is it just going to rain hard? If it is a hard rain that's gonna fall then the rainy day women 12 & 35 will probably require shelter from the storm. Just like a woman, that. It's OK though because a change is gonna come and there definitely won't be a hurricane so don't think twice, it's alright.

Leo tried some rice for the first time today, he had the funniest look on his face, both wifey and I thought it was hilarious.

Amazon opened a new physical store yesterday. It has no tills, no sales assistants, and logs your purchases electronically. When Amazon Go opened its doors on Monday such was the hype and excitement about the new shop, customers actually had to queue to get in.

Cycling up a very dirty, muddy country road today.
Seeing the big mess rearranged in lines oh that's odd. Looks like a road sweeper has been up here. No chance.
Over the hill
A road sweeper is trying to sweep the road

Kent traffic police quote this morning: "It's full on Millennium Falcon at light speed weather" I'd like to see that adopted as official Met office terminology.
And earlier: "There's risk of ice and we're expecting snow too - up to 3 cm! Enough to make journeys a little more tricky"
I bet my mate in Finland would wet himself at that, as he tries to force open his house door.

I was looking at studio background cloths on eBay, and the number of them that are made from muslin (or even better 'cotton muslin' or 'muslin cotton') non-woven fabric is amazing. For instance, " 6M*3M STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHY BLACK MUSLIN COTTON BACKGROUND BACKDROP SHEET 10 X 20FT" until you read the fine print where it says " This is a professional quality non-woven fabrics black background cloth." but even that ends on " Package Contents •1 x black muslin fabrics Backdrop no background stands, no clamps."
