Wasted the day looking for design inspiration for the casework for a preamp. Tedious with the internet being a pain inside,.but there was odd moment or two of amusement.
A couple of items from the Ming Dynasty look to be in pretty good nick. There's the item with 24 valves in it. That's enough enjoyments for anyone, I think. Kept the best for last. Elvis has left the building - but it's only temporary. Part copy of the Convergent Audio Technology SL1 preamp.
"Can I have a flake in that and some monkey's blood please - mista."
Some absolute classics there, Stephen. I've tried to find out why many Chinese amps have gallbladders, and as near as I can make out 'gallbladder' is a mistranslation of tube or valve. I have yet to find a suitable explanation for "bile" and "cattle" which are also found quite frequently though.
I didn't use to need the internet, my wife knew everything.
There was a couple of cow references, which I've seen before.
The best one I've ever seen was earlier this year. It was cram-packed with them. They were really waxing lyrical. I never took a screenshot shot of it however.

'Fever' is a word that crops up in these adverts a lot - anyone got a scooby what it means?
That one's still a mystery to me, Jules. Apparently "fever" is an actual "design" of something, but that's as far as I've got with it. It gets doubly confusing when one reads "The decoding chip uses the high-end fever chip PCM1792 of American BB company," because the PCM1792 is a DAC chip, but I'm sure "fever" doesn't mean DAC.

"Through a process of quantum oscillation, the 5GBioShield USB key balances and re-harmonises the disturbing frequencies arising from the electric fog induced by devices, such as laptops, cordless phones, wi-fi, tablets, et cetera," [it adds.]
A search in Companies House shows the two directors of BioShield Distribution are Anna Grochowalska and Valerio Laghezza.
Both of them appear to have been involved previously in a business called Immortalis, which sells a dietary supplement called Klotho Formula.
Its website - rather similar in design to that of the BioShield - says Klotho Formula uses a "proprietary procedure that leads to relativistic time dilation and biological quantum entanglement at the DNA level".
That copywriter used to write for fringe hi-fi component manufacturers, right?
