Awroit, I'm Gary from Brum. Google brought me here when looking up Sony SS-176E floorstanders. I just sold a pair of Amphion Argon 3 and was looking for a stopgap. I prefer analogue to digital and still play tape cassettes and pay silly money for new blank ones. I have a large vinyl collection which is played on a heavily modded Lenco GL69 with a 12" arm.

Hi Gary!! Welcome to our little corner of the internet. It's great that you found us. I'm really interested in your Lenco, it's a model that most who are interested in the brand would barely look twice at, though it shares much with the ones they go doo-lally over. I'd love to know what you've done to yours. I have a G99 with a Zeta and Koetsu Black that I'm very happy with. Lots to see here so dig in. Welcome once again. Cheers Chris

Hi Gary Welcome to TAS I lived in Northfield and Kings Norton for a while.... What, both at the same time? I didn't mod my Lenco, it was made by a good mate up in Blackburn. The plinth is made from high quality packing boxes and the arm is an adapted Jelco 750. The first mod had a different plinth and regular (not Lenco) arm and the top plate wasn't rotated. It was very good but my mate wanted to try a 12" arm and it mounted off the top plate. The result is excellent - it's a keeper for sure. Currently the cart is an AT 33PTG, which goes through a Graham Slee Fanfare MC stage.

Hello Gary and welcome to TAS! Where do you guys go for new tapes? Sorry, I forgot to answer this. The last batch of a few tapes from a few different sellers was on ebay. I don't pay ridiculous prices but look for the best deals for, usually, TDK SA90.

I used to use that a lot, but finally settled on That's metal (which I think was Teac) as good all-round tape.

I liked That's metal and ferric tapes.
When cassette was on it's last legs Richer Sounds was selling the metals for £1. I think you were limited to 10 or something.

Welcome Gary. I sure you'll enjoy your time here. Possibly not - as Gary's last post on this thread was 1 year ago tomorrow!
