What are you going on about ? wow , that is one confusing post , do you have a point ? Are you equating free thinking with trying different firmware and then trying to suggest you are unique in this particular exercise and this means you are Galileo as opposed to Pope Paul V ? You ask me a question, then give me your choice of possible answers like in a multiple choice. And then you end with trying to insult me. Are you looking for trouble by any chance, or just ignorant of the negative thinking of what some people think of my alternative approach to DAC design and performance? Make yourself clear and I shall respond accordingly. To quote REM , I am clearly looking for answers in the dark . Answers stan do not have questions marks at the end of them , questions do . I made my point . I am happy .

I couldn't find that link, Krzysztof. I think I may have read it before but I'd like to have another look.

I couldn't find that link, Krzysztof. I think I may have read it before but I'd like to have another look. There is a mistake in URL on TNT audio website, so you need to start from page 1: www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/regulators_noise1_e.html. Now does it work for you?

I'd love to see the noise plot for Li-ion batteries, which is what we're mostly using these days.

Well i had my stock caiman MK 2 some weeks and decided to take the plunge and try the new V6 firmware and all i can say is wow ? I am stunned at the difference the new firmware has made i have had to listen to tracks i was familiar with again as i seemed to have missed things that were present on the tracks before but cannot recall hearing them ?? I don't class my self as an audiophile but do love music and all i can say is there seems to be more of it if that sounds right ? I do have decent setup and this has made it even better ! I thought the stock Caiman MK 2 sounded great anyway so did not expect such a dramatic increase from just replacing a chip !!! Well done Stan and thanks for the Audio Nirvana treat Gary

I've now fitted my V6 chip but because of domestic issues, not had time to listen to it for more than about five minutes. My initial impression is this is going to be classed as a proper upgrade and improvement, but to be honest, I really need to have some proper extended listening so I can report back properly. Bear with me, it will come in due course.

Ok, spent a couple of hours or so last night after the Six Nations disaster and again today, listening to the Caiman II with the V6 firmware upgrade. At present it is only working with a good CDP transport. I found it needed a few hours to burn in and sound right, but without doubt this is an overall improvement. Like others, I am hearing more information and micro detail in the music which brings added enjoyment to listening. This certainly is a value upgrade and congrats to Stan for making it happen. I like it very much. Well done Stanley!

I use RDC 5 Cones under the Caiman-II and a granite coaster on top, sounds better than the standard feet.

I have another small batch of the Super Firmware in stock in case anyone is interested. There is a small handling cost by the way.

Ive had the V6 firmware in play for a couple of weeks. It has been rock solid with i tunes and spotify via optical/v link/usb/lap top. Best VFM upgrade I have made. Well worth trying for any Caimanitista out there.

I got a customer on the continent who claims that he has been able to play DSD files through the USB with the V6 chip. I don't have any DSD material to try this, but I would like to check out that claim of his. Anyone knows where I can find some free DSD test files to download?

There is a lot on test page of www.2l.no, very high quality, Stan.

I'd love to see the noise plot for Li-ion batteries, which is what we're mostly using these days. Yes, I tried to search on the web, but this seems to be not easy to find, because the level of the noise which is supposed to be measured is so low, that it makes it difficult to measure by the conventional equipment. Anyway, if someone by chance find anything about it, I'd love to see it as well.
