Arrived today and I have the J.V.C. dual axials plugged into them. fed by my P.C. The amp has 4ohm and 8ohm speaker banana plugs. Which would I use if I wanted to connect to 6 ohm speakers?

Try them both and see if there is a difference and whether you prefer one or the other. It won't hurt anything.

Another question, if I play my CD player through it do I then still need the Little Bear P5?

No you could plug it into the amp directly and use the amp's volume control. Try it both ways and see which you prefer.

I prefered to use both, it sounded even sweeter.

I have now upgraded the speakers to KEF Coda 2's and the sound is very nice indeed, my question is, would I now benefit from changing any of the valves? If so what are the equivalent ones for those in the amp please?

Googling the brand name that you have as the thread title here, give quite a few hits for web pages about this amp - the first four or five of them are posts you have made on various forums though!
As far as I can tell, you have the following: 2 x 6N9PJ (front) 1 x 5Z3PJ (middle at back) 2 x EL34 (back)
Why don't you just use the amp and leave things alone for a bit rather than tinkering with it so soon after getting it? Just enjoy it!

I don't know about the others but I have an amp that uses EL34 valves and there is an awful lot of information about them on the web. Alternatives that will almost certainly work fine in your amp are the 6CA7 and the KT77. I have a hunch that the former might be a good choice for your amp. Most of the big valve dealers will stock lots of choices for EL34 and alternatives. Others here may quite well have more firm recommendations here than I do though.

Ive had a few EL34 amps. Good value tubes IMO are JJ Teslas and Electro Harmonix. For something a bit more pricey, perhaps others can help.

You could also consider the slightly pricier Mullard or Tung-Sol varieties as well. For the 5Z3PJ/5U4G, I am only familiar with the Shuguang version. Quite a few choices for the 6N9PJ/6SL7; Tung-Sol, Sylvania, Sovtek and, at a higher price, the Northern Electric. -j.

Great and helpful information as usual gents, thanks for that. Is the rectifier only available in a Chinese valve then?

I believe so; just to be sure, I can ask a couple of local valve gurus - maybe even for possible alternatives.

The JJ or Electro Harmonix should do nicely.
