There are three recordings of Julie London that stand out above all the others to me. Four, if we count "Cry Me A River", but that one is essential for the JL listener. By my taste and standards, this is the definitive recording of "One For My Baby". Sorry, but as good as Frank Sinatra did it, I've got to give the nod to Julie London. Orchestration and arrangement and the vocal performance are perfect for each other. Julie’s singing is flawless. Smooth, smokey and lush, Julie's voice was magic. As a standard, there are no surprises to this well-known song so the true talent is in the arrangement and the delivery. I am lucky enough to own a very clean and quiet original mono pressing of this album and can listen to it as it was originally presented in 1959. "One For My Baby" Julie London (1959) ...when I’m gloomy, you simply gotta listen to me, until it's talked away.
