Tangerine Dream - Love On A Real Train (State Azure Cover)
Very nicely done cover of the track from Risky Business.

Michael Hedges - Aerial Boundaries Recent talk of Hedges reminds me of when I bought this album on Windham Hill when it came out in 1984. I saw him perform it some time after. This sounds stunning on Qobuz in just 16/44. open.qobuz.com/track/217295

Baker Gurvitz Army - Flying In and Out of Stardom If you listen to just one track from them, make it Help Me. You certainly know that a drummer is their leader but the song is a lovely slice of prog-rock. open.qobuz.com/track/10924822

I haven't played that for ages, and doing so led me east, to Berlin! Always been one of my favourites and I'd forgotten the fabulous drumming. open.qobuz.com/album/0078636748924

First time I have listened to some Nightwish and much to my surprise, I rather like this! John and Slinger - are you fans?

First time I have listened to some Nightwish and much to my surprise, I rather like this! John and Slinger - are you fans? Definitely. I like a lot of the "Symphonic Metal" stuff. Epica, Apocalyptica, Edenbridge, Stratovarius, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, are all worth checking out. Nightwish, though, have their iown secret weapon in singer Floor Jansen. She has an incredible voice. She started with another decent band, After Forever. Tarja Turunen (aka Tarja) also sang with Nightwish up until i2005, and is a soprano with a three and a half octave range. This is interesting. Simone Simons from Epica and Floor Jansen duetting. Or this duet with Henk Poort, who was the lead in the Dutch staging of Phantom... There is a whole sub-genre of Operatic Metal which I also love.

Thanks chaps, I will start with the Nightwish album from which that live track is taken, and then I'll start exploring some of the other bands.

I saw After Dark in Holland at the Headway Festival when I went to see Zero Hour I could not really get into the beauty and beast type vocals but Floor was still special back then
