Well as most people know I will give anything a go once, and so to this another freebie form the attic. It is strangely beguiling and for some odd reason has my toe tapping along. Well I decided to look up Mr. Last on Wiki to see what is says "Last is reported to have sold an estimated 200 million albums worldwide in his lifetime (figures vary widely, for example British Hit Singles & Albums (2006) reports 100 million at that time), of which 80 million were sold by 1973 - and won numerous awards including 200 gold and 14 platinum discs in Germany, the International MIDEM Prize at MIDEM in 1969. His album This Is James Last remained a UK best-seller for 48 weeks, and his song "Games That Lovers Play" has been covered over a hundred times. Last undertook his final tour months before his death at age 86, upon discovering in September 2014 that an illness (the exact illness was never disclosed had worsened. His final UK performance was his 90th at London's Royal Albert Hall, more than any other performer except Eric Clapton." "Asked if he minded being labelled the "King of Corn", Last reportedly replied "No, because it is true."" Obviously a very successful career that captured peoples ears for many years. James Last & His Hammond Bar Combo – Hammond À GoGo 3 Label: Polydor – 249 304, Polydor – 249-304 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue Country: UK Released: 1969 Genre: Jazz Style: Easy Listening

Another free compilation, I was a bit dubious about this one but it is actually very good quality, even thought they are cover versions of the originals the recordings and productions are extremely well done. A reviewer on Discogs says "The production of these earlier volumes in the series were very good. Tina Charles does a great vocal on Ruby Tuesday sounding remarkably like Melanie and she also appears on the Witch. Both great covers. Most of the other tracks are also well recorded." Unknown Artist – Hot Hits 3 Label: Music For Pleasure – MFP 1427 Series: Hot Hits (3) – 3 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo Country: UK Released: Oct 1970 Genre: Rock, Funk / Soul, Pop

Hot Hits was the go-to Music for Pleasure series if you wanted pop chart material by cover artists and couldn't afford the originals.

So here we go record 5 of the attic freebies, I always had a thing for Pet Clark as a youngster, she had that innocent appeal of a slightly alluring older woman. Musically is pretty good but could do with another clean. Petula Clark – Petula Clark's Hit Parade Label: Pye Records – NPL 18159 Format: Vinyl, LP, Compilation, Mono Country: UK Released: 1966

An unusual one from the freebie attic collection. I am not sure how to take this one, Mr Delaney obviously was a very accomplished drummer, having played with Ted Heath, Geraldo (7), Bert Ambrose and with various bands of his own, but this comes across as slightly tongue in cheek big band music with some rather elaborate and amusing arrangements. Don't get me wrong it is very well produced and as one would expect it is musically very tight but at times it conjures up and image of sitting in some 50's cafe or bar trying to hang on to an era that is slipping away, with this playing in the background. Eric Delaney With The Bill Shepherd Orchestra – Senor Delaney Label: Marble Arch – MALS 1126 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Stereo Country: UK Released: 1959 Genre: Jazz
