A new album to me this one, which has had some very good reviews. My initial impression after one listen is that musically it is very good, I like his previous "Love and Hate" album very much as well. One thing I would say is the mixing production seems to be a little bass emphasised, I wondered if this was due to mixing being done to fit more into the digital arena, but on several tracks it is quite evident that there is plenty of dynamic range and it is not entering into the wall of sound syndrome. Has anyone else any views on this album on vinyl. I think I will have a listen on Qobuz to it to see if it sounds the same. It actually sounds better on the second listen to the vinyl, there is actually some seriously low bass on some of the tracks, the low-level you feel.

I've just flicked through it. Not much deep bass except in Hard to Say Goodbye. It sounds like it's been mixed for loudness wars.

Seriously though I am not sure either way, but if you are right then its a bit of a shame that such a good artist has allowed this to happen.

Trust me, they go so low that air movements feel like an underground train approaching. speedysteve and I were swapping notes on how Sheryl Crow's albums have progressively declined due to being mixed for loudness. A real shame.

A real shame. Hi Martin, I was just pulling your leg, I realise that your speakers are one of those that could be described and the Bees-bolllox in the hifi-world, and the certainly look very impressive. I have always hankered after a pair of Rockports, but money and size are serious limiting factors. On the mixed for loudness issue, I find this a truly disappointment aspect of some modern recordings/pressings, why do artists allow this especially when they go to the trouble to release on vinyl, even on CD it is unpleasant IMO. I have Rival Sons - Hollow Bones on vinyl a great album but once again I have always suspected that the bass component had been pushed up too much, such a pity.

No-one comes close to the terrible sound quality of Coldplay albums. Try X&Y for sound quality that should have had the recording/mixing/mastering engineers taken out the back and shot. Three times over, just to be certain.

This wonderful album landed yesterday, it is one of the recent presents, the Repertoire re-issue is superb SQ, and a great sleeve, or at least my copy is, just as I remember from many years ago. Any self respecting gProg Rocler of Jazz/Funker should have a copy of this in their collection. Osibisa – Woyaya Label: Repertoire Records – V 143 Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Reissue, Gatefold Country: UK Released: 2016 Genre: Rock, Latin, Funk / Soul Style: Funk, Prog Rock
