That's great, Chris, but why not post that playlist in the Classical section here?

I've just been watching a rather good video on YouTube, of a gig from 2002 by Yonin Bayashi, who made one of my favourite Japanese rock albums, Ishoku-Sokuhatsu in 1974. Highly recommended by me, this album - very influenced by Pink Froyd, but also a bit of Santana and the Doors in there too. Japanese language singing - that's often a good thing in my book, maybe not yours though. There's a cover of Floyd's 'Cymbaline' at the 1 hour point of the video. Musically, it's great but you'll see why I have the opinion I do about a lot of Japanese people singing in English. Great video which I didn't know existed until this morning.

Not sure it would have general appeal, but this in one of my favourite Marillion albums. Unplugged at The Walls1999 On the 25th of June 1998 a strange thing happened. A group of like-minded people arrived at England's sea and airports and made their way to a small town on the Welsh border. They came from Brazil, Mexico, North America, Australia, Japan, Israel, Germany, Holland, France and Spain. They came to have dinner.... they also came to see a band. When we realised we were going to be holed up in Oswestry for a couple of weeks mixing Radiation, Steve (Rothery) had the bright idea of us doing a deal with the best restaurant in town: free food for the duration in return for a 'low-profile' acoustic performance on the premises. Our ideas have a habit of getting out of hand and before we knew it the Walls restaurant gig had gone 'global'. We decided a couple of verses of 'Easter' simply wouldn't do ...and rehearsed for a week! We set about selecting songs we had never performed acoustically before, and to do this entailed stripping their arrangements back to the bones and starting again. The atmosphere on the night was something else. You really had to be there. Maybe you were. H (Steve Hogarth)
