Hah! I don't remember those, Dave, but I did have a very early digital GSM phone (1G effectively), an Orbitel 902, in 1993. Boy, was it large! It took a full-size SIM (i.e. credit card size) but you could send text messages which I did and people were not used to receiving them, asking me how I did it!

Apparently two employees bought a small number of stores at the time of the Carphone takeover. The operation has continued as on-line only since 2005.

Well the Lancaster one must have been one of those, in that case. It traded as Radio Shack but has gone now though, as I said above.

Do you know what they are called, Paul? Selling Radio Shack only or other items? They trade under Tandy name but appear to sell mainly DIY components. No Radio Shack or Realistic branding now. I was unaware any shops being open recently. The last one I went into was around 2000 in Chelmsley Wood shopping centre ( a bit rough up there).
