What constitutes a classic car these days? - for me if it is an option I would have another Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9, was one of my favorite cars, just shouldn't have written it off

When I was in my 20's (a long time ago) a Triumph Vitesse 2 litre mk 2 was the object of my desires.
I saw a car on Ebay last week.
It was a Morris Minor traveller, 2.9L Ford V-6, Custom chassis with Jag independant rear suspension and Ford based front suspension.
Extremely well built and finished and almost stock looks. Went for £8K.

The Jag's not very practical, is it? I do insist on two seats in my car!

Not a problem if you're single and have no friends.

I am a fan of modern classic Rover V8s, like the Rover 3 1/2 litre (P5b) and Rover 3500 (P6b).
Here is a much modified Rover 3500 I built for special stage rallying many years ago. The auto box was replaced by an all synchro Jaguar manual box with overdrive and the Rover diff replaced with a Jaguar one with driveshafts shortened to suit.

Nice, Philip. They were good cars.

They certainly were.
I would not mind re-creating the one pictured, but with a bigger version of the Rover V8 engine and stiffer suspension.
My Rover tally was a P4 80 with a 3.5 V8 engine, a 3 1/2 litre (P5b) saloon (bog standard) the 3500 (p6b) rally car and an SDi 2600 (bog standard).
After Rovers,I discovered Saab Turbos.

I think things went downhill from the SD1, although people speak well of them.

I think the Rover 75 with the 4.6L USA Ford V8 (and the MG version ZT-260) will be a future classic.
