Stormbringer is the sleeper album of all time, a minor masterpiece. For that alone, Coverdale ranks highly for me as a singer.

I was never a fan of the heavy Purple. I was always a Mk.1 purple fan & ofc the Mk.2 Concerto For Group & Orchestra LP.. The "Child In Time" track from 'In Rock' is brilliant untill the guitar comes in then i have to skip it, i have a very high dislike factor for Electric Guitar.. The versions you would hear without the Geetar was more my cuppa tea.

I hope I haven't wrecked this topic by steering it in a different direction, apologies to the person who suggested it, if that is the case.

Ha! as soon as I heard the opening track I had a flashback of myself with long hair , penny round collars and flares. I had this on tape , copied off my mate's album when we did that sort of thing . Deep Purple were the only Heavy Rock band I liked all because of Ian Gillan and Made in Japan (surely one of the great live records ever) , that sort of spoilt me for their studio stuff which was ok but not my thing and this album was were it stopped. I enjoyed hearing it again in fact it was quite refreshing , a Heavy Rock pop album , I'll give it 7/10 for old times sake.
