I'm guessing most of you like football. My team is Everton, what is yours?

Football is not my thing, but my partner is an avid Bradford City fan so I take an interest for her sake.
And she tries to understand my obsession with building amplifiers.

Thought it was a thread about sweets.
Disappointed.

Football has it's place.
One around 5% of the current size in the public arena

Thought it was a thread about sweets. Disappointed. Years ago heard an item on Radio 4 which looked at smoking. The idea that it was seen as part of an aspirational image in advertising and film was mentioned. James Bond was one example given. He lights up a ciggie and looks cool and sophisticated puffing away. The broadcaster commented that that image of cool and sophistication just wouldn't be the same if Bond was to slip his hand into his pocket pull out a sweet and enquire; "Would you like a toffee?", which really amused me, at the time. Apologies for the thread drift.

I am very surprised, in any other cross section of men one would always find some football lovers. Obviously Standarsi are not the usual cross section, the only football lover is a woman!

I'm a Liverpool fan. So is Slinger. You surely weren't expecting us to play on a thread entitled "any other toffees". It's like me posting on a foo thread . But welcome anyway

I gave up watching football a long time ago. My F1 interest bit the dust a couple of years back too. My only remaining sporting interest is MMA. Even that is getting spoiled by commercial interests and some very dubious decisions.

F1 and tennis for me. Wimbledon this week should be great, but I always suffer from having to watch catch-ups when I get home.

Liverpool. After that, Liverpool Reserves. You got yourselves one hell of a good midfielder in James Milner - he'll be missed round at ours, that's for sure. I'm looking forward to hearing the last of the Sterling rumours. I can't work out where he'd fit into our team (if you've not worked out my team with my opening line then there's no hope for you), and he certainly isn't good enough or creative enough to justify the ridiculous fee Liverpool want for him. We've got plenty of young players coming through our academy who I'd rather see getting some first team action.
