This has always seemed one of the most moving lines from literature to me, and now one of the great lines from a film. I think it is true for all of us. Good luck, PJ, and I look forward to sending you birthday greetings on your 100th - mind you, that will have me at 123!

Wanted to give you all an update on my progress as its been a bit over a year since I first posted this thread. I went to see my Pacemaker specialists recently and they have said that I'm doing really well, the device has not had to manage any negative situations or provide shocks which is extremely encouraging. They have said they feel things are going so well that they don't need to see me formally for a further 3 years. I saw my Cardiologist in May and he ran a Ejection Fraction review via Ultrasound and confirmed that it had increased to 30-35% which is a significant improvement on 10% when I was first diagnosed (originally I thought it 17%, but he confirmed I was mistaken). I am now 1-2 on the Heart Failure scale whereas I was 3-4 before (4 being the maximum). What does this all mean? Well my prognosis has improved and ultimately life expectancy has increased, so I couldn't be happier. Overall I'm really enjoying life at the moment, I feel well, we have built a gym in the garage and were using it regularly and it's so nice to be able to breath properly. When I visited my Cardilogist in February I was given a stern talking to about my weight so after convincing wifey we both joined Slimming World in April and so far I've lost 1 1/2 stone and she's lost 2 stone. I thought I'd share my rewards

That's a really great outcome for you, Paul. I love health success stories, so keep it up and plan what to do with your extra chunk of life!

Glad to hear of a positive outcome. Hopefully this'll give you a laugh. I mentioned before that my wife has the same sort of device fitted, well when it was still quite new she was over in Ireland staying with her sister and was cleaning her dad's newly fitted shower room when she got a belt of electricity from the new wall, obviously the last thing she needed with a newly fitted pacemaker. Brother-in-law got the builder/sparks back in and tore them off a huge strip, they ended up virtually ripping the thing down and building it back up again. No more belts from the walls. Everyone happy.
Wife duly returned home and related the story to me as she was ringing the pacing clinic just to check with them that everything was O.K. They got her to do a download (this was before the new monitoring system) and when they'd checked the data they called back asked her about the incident at the date and time she got the shock. They then told her that she'd actually experienced her device shocking her, not the electrics in the shower room. We came to the conclusion that it was a combination of the physical exertion and the steam/heat from the shower she'd had prior to cleaning the shower room. She was very apologetic when she phoned the brother-in-law and told him that the shower room was fine all along.
At least she knew what to expect when it actually shocked her "for real" some time later. It's quite a belt, and it's bloody scary when you know what's doing it, but it does the trick I'm happy to relate.

Now that is quite amusing, I know that it is rather a nasty belt when you receive a shock, luckily I haven't received one yet, although I have been told I will definitely get one at some point by my Cardiologist.
I guess the best point is that if you do get a genuine shock, you could feel that you are born again in a weird way, because it would have saved your life!
Hopefully your wife is doing well too, it was extremely scary when I first found out about this condition and had the device fitted.
Paul.

Fantastic news Paul. Must be listening to music that does it, especially that CDX2 Thanks Mike, to be honest I am finding the CDX2 more and more redundant now I have the NDX, as it is equally as good (if not better) and soooooo much easier to use ... well apart from me having a dodgy network so the damn thing locks up randomly on occasions.

Oh don't worry Martin, I will be enjoying life to the max ... we are going to go to California next year, wifey went last year as she has family out there and used it as an opportunity to have a cheap holiday whilst exploring I was advised against flying last year but am ok now so will be taking full advantage... we are even thinking about renewing our Vows at one of those cheesy places in Las Vegas as it will be our 10th anniversary

Further update,
I went to see my Cardiologist a couple of weeks ago and he carried out an Echo Cardiogram which measures the EF (Ejection Fraction) range (ability for the heart to pump blood around the body) and my EF had increased from 35% at the last review in December 2016 to 45%.
He explained that this is only 5% below what is considered minimum normal which is 50%, although most people are in the range of 55-65%.
I am generally feeling better than I have in years which is obviously encouraging considering our baby is due shortly.
