I'm not so much a fan of electronica, but I do like 'The Campfire Headphase' Not familiar with this one, so I'll give it a spin. I know it's an old thread, but did you try Music Has The Right To Children Tim? Just wondering how you got on with it...

Oh, and any BoC fans should also try an album called Whole Numbers Play The Basics, by Casino vs Japan.

I know he did the music to the film Monsters - which I have been meaning to rewatch while the sequel is available to stream online - and he did the soundtrack to How I Live Now, which I have on my 'to watch' list. I haven't researched him yet, but I will do next time I get some free music time - I'm currently listening more to Mogwai's Atomic ahead of the gig on Wednesday night.

For those who like BoC, and are always looking for something similar, try Earthlight by Horizon Fire.

I'm not so keen to be honest, but I've often wondered how a band might get a name like Boards of Canada. Do you know the origin, by any chance?

I love this album, along with much of the 90s output from warp label.
This album has some good memories for me, a friend of my wifes (her old art lecturer) came to stay with us for a few days and do some painting around the North East. On a brisk but bright autumn day he suggested we head to the countryside for walk, we all got in his car with brushes, chalks and paper and made our way to a spot I won't disclose for reasons which will become apparent.
After walking a mile or so we happened upon a field of mushrooms and, still unsure whether they were the right sort, began picking.
We filled bags and bags of the tiny black fungi and, after consulting a library book, took them home with us.
A friend of mine and his girlfriend decided to pop by, he brought me a cassette copy of the album and we invited them to join us for the evening. Then two more friends arrived who'd been caught out in the rain whilst cycling arrived and they also came in to dry off.
So here we were,a merry bunch indeed and brews were duly prepared and consumed. We spent the evening each sitting surrounded by art materials, painting and sketching each other and as the brews took effect we popped the cassette in the machine.
The album became the soundtrack to that lovely chilled autumn evening and it's hazy sounds and voices, complete with some of the 'art' which we kept, became a reminder of that time where a few good friends all went on a bit of a cosmic (and platonic, I'll hasten to add) journey together.
The paintings by the way were brilliant and I have no art skill whatsoever.

They'll be amongst the many of my wife's portfolios stored in the loft.
My current back pain notwithstanding I'll be going up there next weekend to rummage for the Christmas decorations (yes I won't have them up until week beforehand) and have a look for them.

Like Lunar Testing Lab a lot Have you tried Jon Hopkins ? similar sound I'm sure I've tried one or two of his in the past and never really grabbed me. I think he's done the odd film soundtrack too.

I think if I heard a lot of what I heard today without knowing who it was, I'd guess at BoC too, and expect to be 100% correct. I listened to about four albums today, all excellent.
