I'm always careful outside, but this was taken from the garage, which is part of the house, which makes it worse in my opinion. I could hack it if it was my lack of care securing it in public view, but this was someone breaking into the house and taking it.

Naah. I weighed up the cost against the amount of years I've successfully owned a bike against the £200+ per year it'd cost me. It wouldn't have paid off with my last bike that got taken, but I suppose it would've paid off this time round. But then, that all depends on the insurance company's requirements regarding its storage, security, locks used, etc etc.

Agreed. When you see what they want to insure a bike it doesn't make sense.
Fortunately I can keep mine inside
