An outstanding album. Neil Barnes and Paul Daley have put together a winning mix of deep African influenced bass and drums and combined it with a mix of hard hitting (Storm3000, Open Up) and dreamy (Melt, Original) electronica. The result is an album that seems to fit into your life nicely. I've got a feeling this won't be a popular choice here but it's well worth a listen. I've also heard this album live in Glasgow and it was simply superb - as is the vinyl version. Guest vocals on Open Up are John Lydon - which is a genius stroke - and Lemn Sissay adds quite a lot to 21st Century Poem among a small host of others. I genuinely hope you enjoy this. www.discogs.com/Leftfield-Leftism/release/3301

I've never heard it, but have had half a notion to try it when it's cropped up in charity shops and places like that. Looking forward to giving it a go, so thanks for giving it to us to try Chris

At times and in places I really enjoy the album, other times I do not enjoy. I commend you Chris on selecting something that is really playing with my psyche. I just do not know where I stand with it.

I played it last night and got a similar result. There are bits that are great, but others that I'm struggling with. I shall give it another go before I vote though. You need to cast your vote Chris!

Just finished listening, quite hard work as not my cup of tea at all. Sorry but I voted 1/10.

It's a maddening album. For every Release the Pressure and Melt, there's something awful like Afro Left or Inspection (Check One) in between. It's like listening to two different albums! Thanks for the intro though, Chris, I had never listened to them before.
For the album as a whole, 6/10. For the good tracks, 8/10.

Many thanks for giving it a try. I did realise it wouldn't be to everyone's taste but glad you all at least gave it a try.
Daytona - that Renaissance album is outstanding as well! Worth a fortune now I believe.

Always a fan of this album, I also enjoyed their other album of original material, 'Rhythm and Stealth'. Saw them live in 2010, although I think by then it was just one original member of the band with a group of other musicians. A solid 7/10 from me.

Hi Chris, a fine album let down by a couple tracks - I gave it a 7. Great bass workout for any system.

Ah, the soundtrack to my mis-spent youth. Remember this genre of music fondly from the early to mid 90s. The lead up to dance music going mainstream was an amazing time. I remember the Warehouse in Leeds in the early 90s, Nude at the Hacienda on a Thursday, raves in fields and Ibiza in the summer of '91 and '92 (when they used to play Phil Collins and Everything But The Girl, between dance tracks and chart remixes). Great times.
