I still have belkin speaker cable and numerous interconnects. Had a wee look see inside one of the interconnects-helluva complex cable internally all manner of different wires and insulation. An utter pig to try to strip.

CableShark.Com have the 50ft reels for CAD 17.00 - £9. I think the postage from Canada will be more. I was going to order a reel but it appears they don't ship to the UK. They only ship to France, Germany, Holland and the Netherlands, as far as Europe is concerned. Disappointed.

It's a very complex construction and it features several different types of wire, one of which consists of an extremely fine strand which is tightly coiled like a very floppy spring. It behaves a little like a filament of a feather and simply doesn't stay in position when you try to form it and it's rather difficult even to tin it with solder. The interconnects are similar.

You can see that mantra repeated all over the internet and I think it's a quote from the original Hitachi press release.
I can't see how that can be the case, because it would make the cable totally inflexible - as soon as you tried to bend it, you'd surely break the crystals and it would no longer have the benefits it claims.
Anyone care to enlighten further ? Any materials scientists out there ?
Is it maybe a misprint and they meant microns ?
