No further progress that last time home ChrisB as my time off was hectic!! I've not given up but have to say I'm a bit stuck. The foams look to be right between the right and wrong size and the surround for them is missing so it has become awkward. My plan is to unstick the foams,do the battery thing on the voice coils and rope in an OCD mate to help replace the foams. I'm not home now till about the 25th though!!

If you weren't so far away we could have had a group effort - a kind of refoaming by committee!

I'm not sure where you got the foam rings from Chris, but did you specify that they were for Castle Kendals? The reason I'm asking is because the original Kendals (like yours) may have had different sized drivers than the new ones. Perhaps you got the wrong ones? If you take a peek at the AudioFriends website, you'll see that there's a guide for you to follow so you can send them measurements for all of the different dimensions. Fred is really helpful and he'll find a set that will fit spot on for you, I'm sure.

Just got them off EBay ChrisB - fair chance theyre the wrong ones. A group effort would have been good - it would have been quite a good process to photograph and document for the site. I did consider this but knew I would run into bother!!
As for Mr Whippys jokes....

Was only a joke.
At the end of the day, it's all good experience, and something to learn from.

I think calling it a joke is a bit of an exaggeration.... Did give me a giggle right enough!

Hmmm...still a wee bit rough. Seem to pick up fine at higher volumes and when the song has gotten going a bit. They much prefer the wee NAD 3225 amp as well

Just noticed this thread. Going back to the list of models put up earlier on i noticed a couple of models from the new Castle brand not the original Yorkshire company.. Its an easy mistake to get confused seen as they are using some of the original model names again The 'Kendal' were the last of the 70's models & the pre cursor to the 'Pembroke'. I sold a lot of my stuff off but still have two pair of Mk.I 'Richmonds' {The first speaker they ever brought out} also still got my Mk.I 'Conway' sadly had to say goodbye to the massive Mk.I 'Howards' i just physically could not use them in my music room & far too big to store but a fantastic speaker if you have the room. Mid Range imaging is top notch..

Im just sticking with the Mk.I 'Richmond' from now on. I never liked those Mk.I 'Kendal' for the same reason im not keeping the Mk.I 'Conway' & that's the Bass unit clamps.
