It's really good to start with an empty room. Talk in a normal voice in the middle of the room - hear the reverb in your voice coming back at you, how live it sounds. Snap your fingers - hear the flutter echo as it quickly reflects off different surfaces. Once you've treated the room, if you've done it well, your voice will sound quite dead. Snapping your fingers will produce the direct sound with little or no flutter. For guidance: two panels on the wall you're facing, each just inside the speakers to absorb the first reflection to you. One centred on each side wall. Two behind you. Thick rug or carpet on the floor. Soft furnishings. If you can stretch to it, bass traps in each corner. Build it up until the room sounds dead. It's the speakers you want doing the talking, not the room. Yeah, that sounds pretty much like I have planned. The rooms pretty good acoustically just now but the transfer of sound INTO the rooms a pain in the arse. Appreciate the comments Martin - nice and clear.

Mark Grant sells the X2 version. Failing that, you could contact Steve at Electric Beach who manufactures them. Cheers for that!

Now that's interesting Martin, sure I heard you mention that before which is what made me think of Behind the speakers placing. I've also a back wall that'll take a bit then can be covered with vintage maps.
The brookmeister - appreciate that, thanks. When you say effective what do you mean? It'd be nice to know what I'm listening for!
Mike - no mate, not gonna start pulling up flooring, I shall keep this post updated as I go on.

Oh dear, did they make the mistake of starting it? Yeah, well they handed it back to the lad who then drove it for about 30 miles when the light came on. He then topped it up.

These speakers sound great but they're flat on the floor and I reckon I can do better. What does anyone recommend I put under them? Im thinking the EB rockin roller x1s that were discussed here or some pretty standard hard rubber feet....like these... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231295618651 or these.... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281848692940. Not sure of the weights involved. Could someone also please tell me where I can buy the rockin rollers and how many I'd need.

Ok,I'm going to have a little experimental play with soundproofing in my tune room. I've ordered up a mat which I'm going to tuck under a rug and a few soundproofing tiles. The aim is to keep a bit sound out as well as in as the tv downstairs seems to carry right up into my room and I'd like to see if I can hear much difference as well so a bit room tuning is another priority. Now,it's just cheap stuff off eBay and not a lot of it to start but if there is a decent difference I can up the game a wee bit. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152604606379 www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272612236658 I'm thinking of the tiles in behind my speakers - 4 each and 2 under the feet on my stand. Are there any "rules" on positioning these things? Is it just a question of moving them about to find what works? As ive said,it's not a lot to start but any guidance is appreciated.

There's a female vocal version of it that's Out there. The Mrs likes it and that's what set it off. Jessica Lombard sings it. Prefer the original myself but worth a listen.

Guy at works engine knackered up on his Audi. £5,000 repair but he argued it out and after a fortnights hassle the bill was split between Audi and the dealer.
Two points - no1 it shouldn't happen No2 - the dealer was a bawbag.
Then....after all that the car was returned with a new engine....but no oil in it!!
Unbelievable.

Oh now - I've just swapped out to my AR 07 amp and started putting a few watts up these and that's pretty special. They seem to like a bit power!
My main impression is speed and accuracy here - The Proclaimers Sunshine on Leith just sounds "spot on" i.e. Just as it should Zoe's Sunshine on a Rainy day sounds pretty good too,First Aid Kits Silver lining is well delivered with the vocals especially well delivered. Oxygene and Equinoxe are both fair getting pushed along as well.
The valve amp pictured is triode wired so lacks a bit oomf but excels in detail and has a lovely, natural sound but these extra watts are working wonders. I'm enjoying these - at about 65d which isn't overly loud.
Yip,liking these

There's a pair of Frugels on AoS for £100 if you can collect, bargain if you fancied them. That's a right bargain but looks like they're away.

Got to say I have to agree with Tony. The PMCs were outstanding, the Frugels were superb and the amps were very, very good. I couldn't pick out the cables either!
The amps sounded crisp and clean and the big ones had heaps of power and gave everything they were hooked up to a good workout - the smaller ones would be perfectly acceptable in an average size house as well and, imo, offer better value for money.
Great kit,great day.
