Do you know, I wonder why subjectivists have to validate themselves so frequently ?

Rare for me to comment. I truly loved the Clarkson days. Now this is two oafs and one professional (Chris Harris).
The only real content was the one professional and the Tesla Model 3, what a waste !
And talk about dumbing down.............

How terribly sad................
Richard and I often completely disagreed but we also had many things in common.
What is so sad is that he didn't have a final rant, he wasn't able to say goodbye and that we were not able to say goodbye to Richard.
R.I.P Richard

And make sure the wires go to the same place. Note the colour wire that goes to the " + " or " red dot " and make it the same. Rather like car shock absorbers, better replaced in pairs.

I know, but the best recording I have heard is the one with the particular hiss I mentioned above. They applied way less processing ? Is that your copy ?

. Their first album Dire Straits Some pressings/masterings did not remove the tape hiss just before the beginning of Sultans of Swing, first track side 2. Dave

It works both ways, some inept manufacturers actually send for review under specified units and then wonder why they have been returned. Worse some then send in a replacement that also isn't right. These are the manufacturers that don't use test equipment and therefore have no actual quality control.
YMMV

Truly fabulous equipment for all the reasons above and then some. What a pity the UK distributor chooses to sell direct and not via dealers.

Do by all means tell us about the new 1500C, I tried to have a listen but the room was full and I didn't return later. OK, thanks, I will in the next few days, there is a lot to say and not what you might expect !

In the Audiophiles UK Facebook club it's been suggested that the Bristol show was primarily a trade show. It definitely wasn't and was not sold as such.
The new Wharfedale Linton Heritage and the Klipsch Forte sounded good and were set up well. I gave up in most rooms after arguments with 2 exhibitors who thought "compression and mastering" were artifacts of MP3. The JBL L100's could have been so good if it wasn't for the music played and the attitude of the salesman.
Our SP-10R attracted a lot of attention as did the £899 Technics SL-1500C, but as I can't advertise I can't tell you about the new 1500C !
It was very busy and I had a lot of networking to do, sorry if I missed anyone.

They were in phase, I think, so a bi-pole. Was that physical or electrical phase ? So a positive signal drives both inwards, or one in and the other out ? Never could get my head around that ?

Celestion did this some time ago ? Are these driven in our out of phase to each other ?

Agreed, horns have a different operating envelope, for instance. Quite and horns go well with valves for some music. Horns measure differently too ! I tried them and loved them.
However like you, my real preference is for big speakers and huge high damping factor amplifiers and music that compliments that.
Jill is quite the opposite and regrets the time I sold the Klipschorns & 300B SET's ...........
YMMV E&OE

That depends on how difficult your loudspeakers are, and that can easily be measured. Never shut doors.

I understand what it measures. However, if it was an overall level of 'goodness' all valve amplifiers would be finished. Professional engineers and all magazines that measure, apply different rules to valve amplifiers. Stereophile is usually quite clear about this.

The question is also an invalid assertion. Only an engineer can answer the question that was probably meant to be asked. But they are unlikely to do that unless talking to to another engineer.
Of course, see my signature below !

. Hi Steve
I'll be in Chicago later this year, any good HiFi shops, used, classic or new ?
Thanks

In my case none of that rhetoric is actually true. 4K is better even without HDR, and until I actually see 8K the jury is out for me too !

Disconnect the arm from the pitch control.
