I went to a friend who just Bought a Benedict Audio Hot Head Phono M www.benedictaudio.com/hothead-phono-m/ he is using a Audio Technica At150ANV that not even run in yet. Performance was pretty sensational Depth blackness detail and scale Kind of reminded what Martin's phono is doing in his system, hard to really judge as such different systems but the sound was stunning. We started with Diana Krell well recorded LP and hearing the cymbal detail that in the past has been lacking. Vocals were relaxed and depth, the kind of sound high end audiophiles lust over. We the then put on The Rit Varations by Lee Ritenoir and the music yet again shown through, during each track not a word was spoken as just so involved in the music. For those looking for a cost effective phono highly recommended.

I think the AT is a moving magnet - does Benedict do a unit for low output cartridges too?

I have C and M versions currently (MC and MM). These phono stages are optimised to their configuration ie mc or mm. The C version is every bit as brilliant as the M.

Btw with the MM version I'm using my London Reference and with the MC version I use a Transfiguration Spirit.

That's very interesting, John. I'd love to hear one sometime. Seems extraordinarily good value if they sound as good as that - I trust your ears!

Same kind of blackness and ability to seduce hard to say if as good but certainly in the same ball park.

Just bought one of the m versions from a friend. This thing is utterly superb. A friend lent it to me this afternoon, took me all of half an hour to decide I had to have one. He then told me he had it on ebay for sale. Its no longer on ebay.
Using the demo lenco with modded rb 251 ( silver wired, drilled arm tube, modded c/w stub, detachable mic cable arm cable) Shure m97xe, into a passive and the pass f5, it just sounds right. Wonderful bit of kit

I'd forgotten all about this. It sounds like an audio bargain.

It's a tidy looking little thing too. Price is now nearer 500 quid though.

I really like the styling of that, it is very simple but effective.
