So you might think, but Ridley and Denis have opposed views, as does Harrison Ford. So it's not as clear cut as you might think? Or depending on which version you watch So you're a yes then?

I'm just sitting down to watch The Final Cut for the first time. Fresh coffee and BLT wraps to hand It'll be interesting to see if it throws up a differing angle than DC. I believe he's a replicant too, but not for the same reason Martin. More so from dialogue in BR2049, but I won't say why so as not to give away any spoilers.

I'm a 'yes' based on the first film. For me, with another blade runner being a replicant in the second film, it just corroborates it.

Good summary, thanks for that Tim. Having seen them all now (the theatrical release and DC multiple times), it's The Final Cut for me. It retains the essential 'unicorn sequence' but for me the overall appearance is improved with the different colour palette and it's impact is more brutal, which is apparently what Ridley wanted. The overall picture/audio quality is I think superior from the digital remastering. I hope to see BR2049 for the sixth time this week, it's now amongst my top 10 films of all time, possibly top 5. I want to see it as much as possible at the theatre, as it's impact won't be anything like the same on a small screen.

I'll look out for the FC on Blu-ray. The original film is in my top 5 of all time.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer is compelling viewing, very dark and it will make you feel uncomfortable, but it's riveting cinema. You always know when a film has totally captured it's audience - there's a turning point in this film where it changes into something completely different, not that until that point you really knew where it was going? But this pivotal scene has a profound effect, you can hear a pin drop. The rustling of popcorn stops, any chatter stops and people no longer shuffle in their seats, totally mesmerising and it stays this way until the end of the film. Outstanding in every-way, but not for the feint hearted. Superb performances from the cast too, especially Kidman, Farrell and Barry Keoghan. It's most definitely a marmite movie and might be a stretch for non regular cinema goers. In my top 10 of this years best. If you think you might be up for it, try not to read much about it before going

Thanks, Tim. It wasn't even on my radar. If you have any sort of alignment of taste with Mark Kermode, then you should like it. It's his 'best out there' at the moment pick (after Blade Runner) and I agree with him. Saw it for the second time yesterday and got more from it.

Yes, I often agree with Mark Kermode's assessments.

Wasn't sure where to put this and didn't really want to start a separate thread, but I went to see Network at the NT on Tuesday and it was outstanding in every possible way. I've enjoyed theatre for over 30 years and never seen anything quite like it. It's based on the 1976 film with Peter Finch that some may remember . . . "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore" The adaptation is quite brilliant and Bryan Cranston plays the part of Howard Beale. All the reviews I have seen so far are praising it, which is unusual for something to be so universally highly rated. I can't recommend it enough if you enjoy theatre. It's on until early March, but tickets are becoming scarce so if you do fancy it, I would get on it now and be prepared to be flexible about dates? www.nationaltheatre.org.uk/shows/networkwww.theguardian.com/stage/2017/nov/13/network-review-bryan-cranston-lyttelton-national-theatre-lee-hall

Took son to see Thor: Ragnarok. Fairly enjoyable, quite a bit of humour in there. Soundtrack is fabulous:

Amazon have a deal on at the moment - Alien Covenant 4K Blu-ray for £12.99 so I've ordered it. Shame it wasn't also released in 3D though.
As I remember Martin quite liked it and Tim thought it was absolutely awful so I shall finally get to make my own mind up. On Amazon it has garnered 1,258 reviews and has averaged 3.2 stars out of a possible 5.

Weakest o the franchise so far imho.
Each to their own though.....I thought Alien 3 excellent, but critics slated it.
