Danish oil is good stuff, I used it in my Gale speaker refurb project. Hides a multitude of sins in terms of bringing up badly treated wood, too.

I much prefer the more natural look and feel of oiled wood than a deep shine.

There's a little trick to the tweak the arm that the idler wheel is mounted onto. It's got a bit of a 'boing' to it, so it gets wrapped in something or other, PTFE tape in my case. See Carl's photo below.

What's confusing is that the photo sequence keeps going from rounded corners to square corners and back again! Perhaps Carl does a side trade in time travel?

Ha! The first series of photos are the templates that Carl made from MDF (I think) in order to be able to reproduce the appropriate cuts in future. The second series of pictures are the actual plinth.

After discovering a slight imcompatability with the Zeta arm, due to the position selected for the armboard, the plinth is back with Carl (see my blog thread). I hope to be picking it up on Sunday, after which, I am confident it will be sounding fantastic.

The plinth was intended to be a Christmas gift from Mischa, so this delay ensures that it will arrive on time!

Word from Carl is that he thinks he's cracked it, so I'll be driving down to Manchester late this afternoon to pick it up. Can't wait!
