What gets me about long guitar solos is trying to learn how to play them. For instance Sweet Child O' Mine. Just remembering the notes is a challenge all by itself. Then you forget it for a couple of months and come back to it and most of it has gone. You have to re-educate yourself, literally. I have never licked it BTW. Or really come close. I had it down for awhile but not tried it for a good few years so would take a bit of time to build back up You want to try learning Django based stuff I almost had Dark Eyes a few years ago

From that first Blizzard of Oz album, I also like the solo in 'Goodbye to Romance'

I really rate Robby Krieger - love the solo on this live recording of Roadhouse Blues (starts at 1.47):

If I could "be" any guitarist, it would probably be Albert Lee. He's a genuinely self-effacing, normal, nice bloke, and he makes everything look so bloomin' easy. He's a good keyboard player too, damn him. Dave Edmunds seems to rate him too.

Chicago I am a man. Its almost early Santana like and it is easy to forget how raw the band was when they first started.
