Have both of these good products, even still have an off ramp turbo from 14 years ago these were one of the first guys to really get into PC audio long before the usual suspects here

Do you know if it will support USB3.0 data rates or is it limited to USB 2.0? There's hardly any need for USB3.0 data rates for audio. Pretty much everything runs at USB2.0.

Can't believe they slash the price a couple of weeks after I buy one - it's a conspiracy!

Not really Jules, they are just shipping out the last of the current models most manufacturers do this from time to time.

Thanks for that, I've ordered one too, and as eBay are running a bonus offer on Nectar points atm I scored over 500 of the little purple buggers, which equates to another £2.50 off.

A reclocker on the end of the Asus is a marvellous addition in my experience, Paul. Good luck with it, I hope you hear what I do. Now you'll need another AQ cable!

I really like what it does to my system Like Jules I wish I got it at this deal It not up with the Mutec but I certainly prefer it over the PS Audio reclocker

I was just thinking to myself that my "bargain" may end up being a bit of a false economy. [EDIT] I think the "Nordost" lead might be pressed into service until I can afford a new AQ Carbon cable.

Good idea - put it before the reclocker and the AQ after.

Thanks guys, that was the plan. It's good to know I guessed right. John and julesd68 - are you using the supplied PSU with your Oehlbachs?

I've not even had a chance to fire it up yet Paul, but will of course report back when I do. I will use the supplied PSU.

Paul
What voltage are the Oehlbachs?

The rear panel says 6-8V DC, Tony.

Ok, I have a couple of Chinese power supplies I could adapt to suit, anyone wish to try one? (it's test/trial no purchase just being curious)

A small t!ale of how things never go quite to plan even when well mapped out
In our R&D lab the Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers, Network analyzers, frequency counters, RTA (real time analyzers) analyzers are linked together with a master reference clock for a higher standard of measurement and signal integrity.
Have been meaning to for some while try out the lab reference with the Mutec device so today was the day!
Today after a managing to grab a short break in the work load this week, I found time to get round to trying out my lab reference 10Mhz GPS satellite clock, well all ready for the big switch on and zip, nothing nought. Humm has Murphy popped out to say hello today??? A simpler solution to the problem is found not enough voltage headroom. While trying to be clever a few week's ago I made a dedicated supply with dual 5Vdc rails, problem is the clock needs 8Vdc Hey it happens to us all So built a new ultra quiet regulator for the required voltage and finally hooked it all up this afternoon.
The Mutec MC3 is capable of being either a 10Mhz word clock reference or accepting a reference 10Mhz clock (50 Ohm impedance) input and using this as master clock to reference its own internal clock.
Well blow me down wasn't ready for the outcome , possibly the best way of putting this is supercharging the super charger. Going to need a bigger room if the sound-stage expansion sound with and stage depth is anything to go by now! Much more natural sounding with greater fluidity.
Always have used clocks in the studio and at home with the Rb esoteric clocks but this is another level all together.
I suspect many other devices can accept a master clock, if you can try one it is worth the wait!

On a smaller scale, Tony, I'm looking forward to hearing your mods to the Mutec.

Although I am not John or Jules , I am using the supplied PSU. I thought I had a battery I could use but the lowest it will go is 9V. I would be interesting to know if a good battery or Linear PSU makes a difference.
