Naughty boy. Of course I didn't notice that ...

You can't beat a honking big pair of meters on the front of an amp, Jules.

Just looked it up - very cool! Would like to hear one of those sometime. Some serious current delivery going on there.

I can't help remembering another regular forum person having a similar sort of NAD machine - many £k - it went wrong and was not serviceable. Sadly he doesn't have a yacht so can't even use it as a boat anchor. Kind of put me off the brand. I'm sure it's coincidence that it says "Goodbye" on the display. But, yes, very nice legs.

I've liked the NAD kit I've owned. Mind you, when on bit (a CD player) started playing up could have easily got spares for it, but it was cheaper to throw it away. I still have fond memories of their 541i CD player though. It's still one of the nicest sounding machines I've owned, especially considering it's bargain-basement used price these days.

Why wouldn't you be able to service a modern / recent power amp? Sounds crazy!

Yep, the owner was astonished, too. And several £k out of pocket. It was out of warranty so there was no replacement offered and NAD said it was not repairable. He was not a happy bunny.
It might have been 12bears on AOS.

Astonishing any gear cannot be fixed, even if expensive to do so

Sounds like my Apple experience where I bought an expensive iMac which failed a few days after warranty ended. They told me it was unrepairable. I should have given the gits a harder time over it. They were so dismissive - 'that's the nature of electronics' or some bollox like that ...

There is a concern, like Wefixit that specialises in fixes for things like broken Apples. Doubt hifi would ever make it
Googling shows a few, none of which I remember as the company I saw.
Vaguely remember them either on YouTube or Aljazeera
Think it has become a large company

Ah yes now I remember that!
7 years old and consigned to the bin is shocking. Are digital amps much more complex and difficult to repair as a whole? I've never used one in my main system and so it feels like an itch I will need to scratch sometime.

It's nearly always parts availability, not finding someone with the wherewithal to repair it.
Remember the Krell SACD player? Used a Philips drive mech that went out of production. Virtually unrepairable, they all became boat anchors.

You would have thought the manufacturer if anyone could fix it. But then I also remember the sorry tale of the unrepairable Accuphase cdp a few years ago ... I'm not sorry to have waved goodbye to cd.

I doubt that NAD make the switching chips. They are vulnerable, too, which is why some manufacturers stockpile spares.
