Mine is in and working initially with my touch for the shop system using Rogers LS3/5A's.
I would say its a good DAC but not a spectacular DAC, taking into account sound quality and what it sells for its 8/10 IMO. I can see why a lot rave about it as most punters want sound for pound and it certainly gives that.
It may go up a notch when it goes in my main system hooked up to my Fidata. Assuming the Fidata will pair with it hopefully.
I have the new Mytek Brooklyn Bridge arriving soon which is the + DAC with a built in streamer, should be an interesting comparison against the touch and LKS DAC.
The next Yorkshire Hi-Fi Club meeting will be DAC's as I would be interested to find something that beats my CAD DAC, as yet nothing has come remotely close.
Its a bit like Nick Gorhams ref. phono stage, we use it at the phono stage bake offs as a reference and nothing comes close to it.

I hope you've given it enough running time. Mine took a full two weeks to achieve its performance level. It's quite different now from when it came out of the box. It needs to be on Black Ravioli feet, too, as the crystal femtoclock is very sensitive to vibrations.

..... is its ability to make highly complex music sound less busy. Individual strands of the music are so easy to hear, instruments are differentiated by positioning and depth as well as by sound. It's a very difficult thing to describe and finding the words is defeating me. I would call it clean and defined, I know exactly what you are trying to say. Good innit?

How are you driving it? I'm always surprised at the number of people driving their DACs with USB. I’ve also got a Lumin D2 which has a built in dac and I drive that with Ethernet, it has a BNC out which I haven’t yet tried into the Brooklyn as it sounds so good as it is, so the Mytek is currently used with optical in for TV duties. A bit overkill perhaps but it sounds great with films. I do have a usb lead plugged in with which I sometimes listen to Tidal via my MacBook Pro. I did drive my previous Brooklyn via USB from an NVA TFS and it sounded great, IMO Mytek have a very good USB implementation.

The LKS has its own PSU and takes mains power in, Jules. Connected to the P10 regenerator. Martin - I wonder if you looked at the specs of the LKS 'mini'? If so I wonder if it's possible to deduce how much performance of the full size it delivers ... I believe only the full size has the dual chip mono implementation.

I did look at it, Jules, but since it's not even on the LKS website it's a bit of a puzzle.
It features a single ESS9038 rather than the dual mono configuration of mine. In all other respects, it looks very similar. The Mytek mentioned also has a single 9038 so it's in good company. It may well have almost all of the SQ of its bigger brother, but that would just be a guess.

What was that we said about price does not determine quality?
Sorry, but at that price I simply can't even evaluate a set.

What was that we said about price does not determine quality? Sorry, but at that price I simply can't even evaluate a set. LOL I do find you funny sometimes Martin. The endless quest to improve sound quality endeth where or when? ALL things in hi-fi regardless of what they are can be evaluated easily, it is worth the money ONCE its been tried. Simple really. I did think £75,000 for a set of speakers was insane, when I heard the ones in question I placed an order immediately. At trade price of course! The DAC you raved about Stan's DAC, I bought one and tried it, its good but as I said earlier what I thought of it I won't repeat it here, the newest one you are raving about LKS is again a good DAC for the money. For just over a grand its a really good performer but I won't keep it long term as I have far better at work. Critical mass who make the footers sell racking systems, some are £6000 per level, bonkers maybe? I have the footers under most stuff now as there is nothing better that I know of, the stillpoints have long gone. I did find the Mytek Brooklyn sounds better under black raviolis so they stay for that and the Critical Mass don't work with record decks so Derrick made me a set of BR's specially to accept spikes as 4 of my decks have them, they are all on BR feet. Talking of Derrick he sent me a new wonder box a while back with a USB connector on the end, he told me to plug it into my Sky Q box. I had to return it as he said it was a prototype, the proper one is on the way which he says is even better. Watch this space. Its £450 BTW

£66 for a big pad is expensive? In the scheme of things I dis-agree chief.

All TAS members actually have bottomless wallets and are just being tight wads ... Yep that's the truth. I need a new family car - I've decided not to buy a Skoda Octavia because a BMW 7 series is 'better'. Yes, I'll do that then ...

The endless quest to improve sound quality endeth where or when? It doesn't need to end, I will always improve my system if I can and if I can afford it.

Yes that just crazy money I actually have Black Ravioli under all electrical components but I still think it's a bit expensive compared to similar equipment Put me off for a few years but I like what they do

I have so many footers I could start a small shop. The BRs are the best by far.

I am still using the Mk. 1 Black Ravioli with bases and they make a significant difference over not using anything at all, but I remember when you brought over the latest BR, Martin. The difference they made was extraordinary, so I will be getting some at some point.

Getting back on topic. I listened very intently last night, having a block of time after getting home early. I continue to feed the LKS with S/PDIF through BNC via my Black Cat Silverstar 75 cable from the DigiOne. It sits on triple isolation - four Black Ravioli Big Pads on an Electric Beach S1NX shelf. There is a granite placemat on top. Output is via Yannis 223.5 ConnectLitz balanced XLR cables to the preamp. An SGS-1 grounding box connects to the spare Co-ax Phono ground. The power cable is a Coherent 6D from my P10 regenerator.
This combination is the most musically satisfying I've ever had my system perform at, with detail, clarity, space, depth and vividness better than anything I've ever had before. In fact, and rather against the damp "I've heard better" brigade, I can honestly say I've never heard anything better. When I think of the big six-figure systems I've come across at shows, from the likes of Constellation, Magico, TechDAS, Soulution, Focal, I reckon I have a better sounding system at almost a bargain price. My satisfaction ranks at an all-time high and I'm playing more music than ever.
I am not saying I have the best components - I'm sure I don't. What this does prove is that careful setup, synergy, mains treatment and environment all contribute to getting the very best out of a system, something that hotel shows singularly fail to do.
The LKS is a big part of my happiness right now. That alone has fully justified my purchase.
