I plumbed in the fettled seg with the new firmware and dorado yesterday.
Sat with my son last night for a few hours, we were both genuinely taken aback at just how much of an improvement they have brought.
Im using one of Stans power supplies with the dorado so no fancy linear supply BUT...Stan has enabled the dorado to be fed charge via this supply and still output 15v reaping all the sonic benefits.
I then plumbed seg/dorado into my av set up....boy oh boy-John Wick 2 the opening sequence with car crashes and fights!!!
Really rather special imho.
will endevour to get listening on cans to work out whats going on sonically.

When you feel like upgrading, a 15V linear PSU feeding it will sound even better.

Martin, I have 2 segs, Stan fettled one and supplied me with a firmware chip for the other.
I bought two Dorados one for my AV set and one for my sons system.
I was swapping between the two set ups last night.
I will get the chip swapped in the other seg today and get the other dorado up and running

I meant the linear power supply feeding the Dorado, in case I wasn't clear.

I think what Martin trying to say to get the best out of the Derado it needs a linear supply to power it to get the best out of it

I sent Tony a low noise, high current, unregulated linear power supply that is used as a charger. It is actually better than the Chinese linear PSU as far as keeping the Dorado topped up is concerned. But the German manufacturer could only supply the PSU with UK plug to their UK agent. So I haven't listed it specifically on my website as yet.

Ah, sorry, my misunderstanding. I thought Tony had an SMPS charger.

I've been on the Beresford web site and ordered myself a Dorado PSU and upgraded chip for the SEG.
I see the Dorado voltage input is up to 18v, as my DIY PSU is adjustable (set at 15v at the moment) is there going to be any benefit to increasing the voltage to nearer 18v ?

The Dorado output is hard limited to 12V or 15V. But all the unregulated power supplies that I use as a charger are able to get to 18V off load, which is why I put 18V at the back.
Set the DIY PSU to not more than 16V. Otherwise some parts inside the Dorado are spending some of their time in dissipating the excess voltage.

My Dorado + chip has just been delivered.
I'm going out soon, so probably won't get to install them till tomorrow.

Stan, would you be able to produce a 5v version?

I've had a couple of days to get familiar with the Dorado and upgraded firmware chip.
In essence, the result is a "bigger" and more engaging sound. I'm well pleased.
I've not played with the different modes yet, what is the consensus on that ?
Still got my DIY PSU on 15v, so room for experiment there.

I think I sold the Dorado far too cheap . Using one in circuit is like forking out a couple of £grands on new amp and speakers.

I have loaned my seg with the new firmware chip and dorado to my sons pal...he listens on senn 700s.
looking forward to his feedback.
myself and my son had another listen to his hi fi- real head scratcher how Stan has brought this level of sonic improvement for such reasonable money.
ive been into digital for a good few years...this has been by far and away the best bang for buck upgrade ive made.

Not withstanding the low price, I am amazed how many people want me to sell it to them even cheaper. Some people don't seem to want me to make a living and have money to develop other products.
