I found it impossible to find some tracks in Volumio Spotify Search. I know they are there. For instance Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble The 4 Seasons: Violin Concerto F minor No.4 L'inverno (Winter) Other tracks from the same album come up. It seems the search is cut short.. I'm doing a new 0.8.5 Spotify Connect2 plugin hack now

New SD card and install of 0.8.5 Spotify connect plugin done without 0.7.4 ever being there - made no difference. Volumio is visible to spotify but fails to connect and goes back to Devices Available. After that Volumio is not visible. So 0.8.5 does NOT work for me. Back to 0.7.4 and queuing. Oh well at least I'm keeping my SD card creation, SSH, Putty & RPi set up skill fresh I'm not alone - Many have reported this problem with 0.8.5 on Volumio Spotify Connect 2 thread..

Yes, me too! I accidentally copied the non-latest config.txt file over and set the SD card all up the other day. Ah well, PuTTY and the nano editor sorted it out without resort to re-burning the card.
In Volumio I set the search results to 20 (for Qobuz) and look for the album rather than track results. Spotify search results are usually better than Qobuz and I have learned to pick my keywords carefully.

Possible fix to the 0.8.5 problem on Volumio forum.. "go to settings / playback options / mixer type and set it on software or hardware and check if spotify now wants to connect." I'll try it now.. UPDATE: After a SSH update to 0.8.5 changing the mixer to SW and a RPi restart, Spotify sees Volumio and can connect to it as a device. Wish they'd update the Githead Spotify connect notice with that.. I know they wrote Mixer set to None fix, but for a noob like me it's easy not to get what that is. I've never had to fiddle with it thus.. Might get to listen a bit this afternoon Got some Tennis racquets to restring for club members and myself next..

As long as you don't listen to the racquets and restring Spotify you should be good.

OK, I have updated to the March 1st version of SpotifyConnect.... once installed it still shows as v0.8.5
I simply repeated the instructions which I assume has deleted and/or overwritten the previous manual install.
I was a little more cautious this time, with a Pi reboot in between deleting, reinstalling and connecting spotify.
So far so good....
Cheers Sean

Twist in the tale..
0.8.4 introduced the problem if the Mixer needing to be set to SW (HW was available in my case). Reading the Volumio blurb, the SW mixer degrades SQ. Not sure if the way I use it (always on 100%) does that or if I could hear it but a 0.8.6 has been released.
Following the same fix Putty command now installs 0.8.6 and it allows Mixer - none, and Spotify connects fine.
So, back to as it was before the Spotify change debacle..

Excellent news, Steve. I shall do that one when I have a moment.

Just noticed it tonight, Jules. It's a bit of a pain but I worked around it by adding the track to the queue and then clicking 'next track'. It then plays. I'll have a look at the Volumio support forum to see if it's been picked up yet. I notice this hasn't been solved by the latest volumio update, anyone have any idea if it's going to be sorted soon?

I can confirm that the manual upgrade to 0.9.0 (12/03/2019) version of spotify connect works well. Just follow the instructions on gitHub. Some of the versions between 0.8.4 and 0.9.0 introduced other problems, but, 0.9.0 works well for me Cheers Sean

Thank you Sean - never attempted anything like that and I've not looked into this as I fear I would make a mess of it. I'd presume you'd need someone who knows what they are doing at the controls?

Jules, OK I am confused.... On the "Volumio" thread, Martin has just used his day off to upgrade "Spotify Connect in the new build of Volumio is v0.9.1, which has the next track fix" Read more: theaudiostandard.net/thread/4216/volumio?page=15#ixzz5ij0LLbtSUrhm I upgraded to the same version of Volumio around the 12th or 13th and yet seem to be behind with only 0.9.0??? Maybe, if you have not done so, upgrading volumio should fix spotify connect?? Cheers Sean

Have a look in your Plugins and see if it's updatable there. Otherwise, update Volumio to 2.565.

Martin,
You beat me to it....
I was about to say that under the "plugins" section, for the first time, there was now an "upgrade" button next to "details" and "uninstall"..... First time that I have seen this
Clicking this upgraded it to 0.9.1 so I am now less confused
Cheers Sean

I have Volumio 2.565 but in plugins it says spoti connect is 0.7.4 and there is no update button available.
However, I see that 0.9.1 is available on the 'search plugins' page. Should I manually uninstall 0.7.4 and then install the new one?

I procedure installed Spotify Connect version 0.8.6 and still have that. Fixed all the problems I'd had - Next track not working and the -earlier fix attempts of not connecting / you had to set mixer to SW.
Not seen any need to update it.

FYI there is a new version of Spotify connect plugin dated 26th March with the following change log entry : March 26th 2019
At this time, I personally see no reason to change to it apart from possibly a request from the developers for debug logs if they are assisting with resolving problems Cheers Sean
