A little something for Paul Slinger perhaps. Some rather fine baroque cello concertos by Giovanni Benedetto Platti. New to me at any rate, and rather good. Thanks Jerry, very nice. I'll see your baroque cello and raise you a baroque violin...

She sails through that difficult concerto making it sound so coherent. Technically excellent, but it's the interpretation that grips even more.

And another great pianist ... Only 16 here when she won the BBC Young Musician of the Year contest in 2010. Unbelievable playing, quite superb.

That sounds very promising on a quick listen, Jerry. Will play it properly tonight.

That Venzago chappie has got Bruckner embedded in his genes - his interpretations just sound right to me!

Some friends came round last night and wanted to hear my system. One chap asked "what was that music used at coronations" and I guessed it was either Entry of the Queen of Sheba or Zadok the Priest they were thinking of. Played them this and they were wowed. I don't think they had ever heard depth, imaging or sheer clout in a system before. The recording is marvellous.

Golden Age recording quality from Decca of the Brahms symphony cycle, and the performances by Solti are excellent. A great set. Listened to 1-3 on the trot yesterday. Probably the 4th today.

Wow, gosh, gadzooks. I'd call this a fairly major discovery for me. Baldassare Gallupi. Baroque geezer.
I first came across some excellent keyboard music, and then this choral album. Really very fine indeed!

"Glorious John" Barbirolli in Dvorak's joyful and beautiful and exciting 8th symphony. Glorious indeed!
