Here are some jazz I find that I am listening to a lot in the last 6 months This captures what Larry does so well on the guitar He also has a great tone and backing musicians support him really well
This has some wonderful Jazz violin
I know you found the first track a bit outside but I really see Adam as the future of Jazz violin playing
This has some great double bass playing on this album
John Surman is always worth checking out and this album is quite atmospheric
Steve Electricbeach introduced me to this a really well-recorded album
Another atmospheric album Not sure what genre it falls into as has many influences. Extremely well recorded
This has a Cuban feel
Another atmospheric album

Thanks, John. Larry Carlton I am already exploring. I have the Lenni-Kalle on CD and will revisit it. The others are new to me so I shall be listening to them.

I've been enjoying Blue Note's 'Tone Poet' series of reissues, which they started putting out a couple of months ago - brilliant music, amazing sound quality (possibly the finest vinyl I've ever heard - nice write-up here) and very reasonably priced. Here's what's out so far:

Typically late to this party.. I dabble a bit. Usual suspects Miles D, Brubeck, Dexter G, Cannonball A, How cool I try to sound I also like few of Oscar Peterson's offerings, esp Night Train, Louis and Duke together remastered is a special. Jan Johansson's Jazz på Svenska and others in that series + his Musik Genom Fyra Sekler (Music through 4 centuries) has a special place.. I sometimes listen to a jazz prog on the radio but not often.

I like Oscar Peterson, especially We Get Requests. I also like some of what Andre Previn did in the jazz world.

This is beautiful in places Her music is mostly used in Films and often crosses boundaries between Classical, Folk and Jazz music

See if this works for you Martin. Miroslav Vitous - amazing bassist ... Thanks, Jules. Listening now on Qobuz and it's not bad but not quite hitting the target. As you say, he can play the bass!

I almost forgot Blues for the fisherman - Milcho Leviev quartet recorded live at Ronnie Scotts. Only available on vinyl (always a few on eBay it seems) and unavailable CD. No streaming as of yet? I have a rip of the vinyl for personal use.

I'm no jazz expert by any means but I listen to fairly mainstream bits here and there. I just bought a few Japanese pressings and "Sonny Rollins and the Contemporary Leaders" and "Archie Shepp - Daydream" are pretty good IMHO. I also bought "John Coltrane - Kulu Se Mama" but that's a bit more like hard work....

Ben Webster for me, but more up to date, try Charles Lloyd.
