following on from this thread theaudiostandard.net/thread/3551/sold-decca-mk4-c4ei sold the decca c4e to a buyer with 1% feedback and a pay-pal address of an argos store in birmingham,a quick google search had me cancelling the sale! in the meantime the replacement cartridge was installed,a very low hrs ortofon cadenza black, after a few hrs of careful set up i wasn't convinced, yes it had great detail but it just didnt rock like the decca, this had me thinking perhaps it was the mc stage in my pre-amp letting things down. i was very kindly loaned a few SUT's to try, still no joy it just wasn't doing it for me,too laid back is how id describe the black. well im sticking with the decca for now and have bought another arm to try it on,the alphason is being retired for a while whilst i stick the decca on a zeta. before it arrives i took the time to revisit setting the turntable up,the plinth is slighty out of line with the platter, you can level one but not the other ,so this time i levelled the platter, this in turn made the tonearm mountng plate pissed so i made some paper shims and now its level to the plinth, with this done the alphason's headshell is bang on for azimuth. back to basics has been worth the trouble as the deccas sounded better than ever! happy days!

As the owner of two of 'em, I think you will like the Zeta and it should work well with the Decca.

re the zeta,my only concern is if it needs extra weight adding to the counterweight. ive got 3g for the rock paddle and 13g for the cartridge

But you can not accept it if you want. I didnt accept mine.. You can however still get rid. People like to use it if other offer it because people that work are never in when the post man comes around. I have an Argos just at the side of where i work so its brilliant for me.No waiting days to have the parcel re delivered..
Go to My E Bay>Account>Site Preferences>Edit the Klick & Collect option

But you are the seller. An E-Bay message will go to the Seller saying its ready for pick up. A signature is required. I dont see any way you can get scammed that you cant buy using another service!! Are you sure you did not have second thought?

Great! Does the counterweight assembly have both of the weight inserts? You were wondering if it would balance out OK in your setup.

I really need to try a Zeta on my deck some time - just one of those experiments that demands to be done ...
Look forward to seeing a nice pic of it in situ!

hi, yes both metal discs are here, the previous owner has put blue tak between them to cut down on resonance. its a busy week for me,ive also got to fit a heed obit psu to the rock tt,although i may fit the arm first just to hear any difference from the alphason.

Some people used to fill the all the spaces in the counterweight shell with Blu-Tac. The idea was to slightly over-fill it and as you cranked up the bolts with your Glasgow torque wrench(!) it would squeeze and compact while filling all the micro-nooks and nano-crannies. There was a downside: If you were unlucky, it became impossible to separate the two halves of the shell without beating the crap out of it.
