Kind of with you there Jules, i like quite a few tracks, but never got the hype. Understand yes, but some of his stuff, just no.

Wow - my collection would not be complete without Life on Mars, Ashes to Ashes, Rebel Rebel, Heroes to name but four epic songs.
EDIT: I love Dire Straits, too!

Right, I'm not going anywhere near a Bowie discussion in here . . . haha, sometimes it's better to say nothing Tim I'm often told!!! Clearly advice I always follow

I like some of Bowie's output, but not all of it, Dire Straits though, I am a BIG fan of.

Agree with you Martin, many other songs too. Sound and vision, Moonage daydream, John im only dancing again, the 2nd long funky version to name but a few. Just never understood why some of my mates when growing up worshiped him. Each to their own.

Most of those I've listed above, I'd put in the category "noise" rather than music. Anything reucous and chaotic is totally out for me.

Sounds awful to me. Not sure what sounds worse: His wailing voice or the racket he squeezes out of his electric guitar. I even intensely dislike the font! Hendrix often seems to pop up on this sort of thread. Is he only so famous because he died so early?

Yeah seriously from me too, I just cannot get on with Hendrix at all, I have tried because others have suggested how good he is, but he just doesn't float my boat as the phrase goes.

It's such a massive genre but by-and-large I dislike Rock music. Screaming electric guitars in particular are so unpleasant, I just can't grasp why anyone would want to hear them. Most power tools are less offensive. Trumpets give them a run for their money though. I hate them too.
