We may have had a thread of this nature before, but I couldn't find it so thought I would start a new one.
So what are your favourite?
Mine would have to be;
Britney Spears Justin Bieber (only a couple of his tracks, can't stand the individual) Take That (again only a few of their tracks) Backstreet Boys S Club 7
Shall I get me coat, hehe

Others tell me I shouldn't like Lana del Rey, but I think she's superb!
I also have a recent liking for some of Lady Gaga's songs.
I'm not that bothered by opinions, really. A couple of my friends complain about a song being too 'commercial'. What does it matter what others choose to buy?

Wouldn't know who you mean with regard to Lana del Rey, Martin You're last point is the most valid to me, music is such a personal thing, that I doubt anyone would entirely like another's music choice. I have heard the too commercial argument too!

I suppose mine seems to be female singer/songwriters - but like Martin, boohaa to ya'll Keeping an open mind is key, I listen to everything that appears on my radar and also revisit things I think I should like and don't the first time, this often bears fruit. Like Martin Lady Gaga is an example, she's got great talent and boy can she sing and is now producing some real class product, which seems to be appealing to a much wider audience - I love Sinner's Prayer on Joanne. I would say I have the greatest respect for Taylor Swift both as a human being and a songwriter, what she does under the radar of the media is humbling. I don't however care for her music since her first album, but I still acknowledge she's an impressive young lady at the top of her game and often play her first album. 1989 isn't a bad album either, good enough for Ryan Adams too. I don't it seems have any sort of guilty secret if it's pop or mainstream though Paul, so I have nothing quite as shocking as your list

Most of my 12" single collection of 80's songs might be seen as a guilty secret by some, but I don't feel guilty about them in the least! But if you're looking for names I've got Bananarama, Thompson Twins, Chicago, Mr Mister, Billy Idol, Laura Branigan - the list goes on and on ...

I absolutely love Journey!
'Escape' is an amazing album.
I will have to check out Saga, as I remember the name from the 80's but don't remember the tunes ...
In a similar vein, Toto are another big favourite.
Going to see them live at the Royal Albert Hall next year ...

I also used to listen to a lot of neo classical guitar players like Yngwie, Tony MacAlpine and Vinnie Moore

Yes I used to like a bit of Malmsteen - his playing was better than the music though!

After reading, and contributing to, a recent thread on the bass forum I belong to I would have to include Eagles. Dire Straits usually come in for the same sort of lambasting too.

I've never understood Dire Straits bashing. Superb musicians and some very memorable songs. Communique is of the highest level.
