What is the worst recording you have ever bought?
Mine is the record I played today for the first time - a re-issue of Use Your Illusion 2 by Guns n Roses.
I played about 20 seconds and put it away. It sounded like it was ripped from a low quality cd transfer. Horribly shrill at any volume. I had an original to compare it to which is superb. What a waste of money!

Horribly shrill at any volume. That'll be Axl Rose, I expect.

Oooo, there's so much I can say here about the worst recording ever, but fortunately I haven't bought any of them Joking apart though, I've been wracking my brain over the question and I'm struggling to answer it, even flicked through my library, but then I don't have any Guns n Roses albums

I have an album by Elkie Brooks on LP called No More The Fool. It sounds utterly horrible - shrill and her voice is so processed that she's hardly recognisable. Why do that to someone who can actually sing?

I've got some bootlegs that sound like they were recorded on hand-held cassette machines. Oh! Wait! They probably were recorded on hand-held cassette machines.

The sonics on Hawkwind's Space Ritual are not great, but it remains a great live album.

Why do that to someone who can actually sing? Bloody Elaine Bookbinder! That cost us the pub quiz in the "Wipeout" round, when the question was, "Which English female singer was born, Elaine Bookbinder?" Our guess was Elaine Page! WRONG - Elkie Brooks! Obvious really!

Well having discovered the worst recording ever yesterday, today I have a candidate for one of the best ever!
Supertramp - Crime of the Century. Wonderful separation of instruments, perfect tonal balance, deep and punchy bass ... amazing.
If only all vinyl was made to the same standard ...

COTC is really well suited to vinyl, which brings out the best in it. I have a 180g copy and it's simply superb.

I have the standard vinyl (better) and the awful A&M half speed master (shrill and tinny).
