...and it couldn't be from a more surprising source. I wonder if there'll be a "Hear The Difference" line, or a "Basics" imprint.

It's quite amusing. Our nearest supermarket now is a Sainsbury's, which we view with some disdain. Vast in size, disappointing in range of product. How we miss our Morrisons closer to town - smaller, but with a hugely better range and outstanding freshly baked bread and butcher's counter.
Will this make us fall in love with our Sainsbury's? I doubt it, but it can only help.

It is a bit surreal - but I find it wonderful, that it is possible to buy records fairly normally in shops again.
I was in HMV Maidstone recently and, whilst it wasn't quite like my yoof, there were racks of LP's and it looked like a record shop
Somehow it appeals to buy music that way - something big and tangible to hold and "play" the music out of. And a decent album sleeve to sit down and read the first time you listen to something
It's how I grew up experiencing music, and CD's never mind downloads just don't have that tactile intimacy.
Of course, they are wonderfully convenient - but its a sterile fast-pace USA tv thriller of an experience compared with the leather chesterfield of real records
And I'm still daft enough to think I prefer the sound of vinyl (there , I used the bloody word) although that's probably because I hardly listen to the other formats through the big rig
Very nice..

If there is extra money to be made they will grab it, Sony have realized that hence re-opening their pressing plant in Japan early next year.
At least 50% of the people who have been into my new shop since it opened June 1st have bought vinyl without owning a record playing device!
Most have said its because vinyl is cool!
Sainsburys and others have cottoned onto this new breed of buyer.

Aye its called going around in circles. The amusing part is they never do anything properly the next time around.. Very very rare have i encountered a New pressing that was at least acceptable.
If i was rolling in it & could afford to buy everything back i wanted on original 1st issue LP's, sure i would be back on Vinyl like a rash, but new vinyl & older Re-issues for that matter, nop not a chance.

The mainstream pressings you are right but there are some superb re-issues out from Mofi and new material aplenty like reference recordings.
