I always said I didn't rate Mick Fleetwood as much of a drummer. Confirmed! Mick Fleetwood on the early days of Fleetwood Mac and why he's a terrible drummerHere's the link

I rate him as a solid workmanlike drummer. Great section standing out on Then Play on - their best album.

I agree with him that Tusk shows off his best drumming.

Saw them live a handful of years ago, at Wembley and really enjoyed it. Stevie Nicks hobbling about like she needed a zimmer frame, and Mick being rehydrated (I think water not whisky) by a stage hand mid-drumming. Mick Fleetwood may be no John Bonham but Lyndsay Buckingham can shred guitar And as a band they write and perform good stuff - and are part of my nostalgia.

I have a soft spot for Christine McVie (Perfect) going back to Chicken Shack, as I like her voice.

I've always thought of Mick Fleetwood as part of the bed rock that Fleetwood Mac is built on. He shares something with Ringo - both have great feel, and what they play/played is/was right at the time.
Mick Fleetwood denigrating his abilities is part of what drives him along. I wouldn't read anything into it.
Now think back to the apocryphal shite that was released not too long ago, and widely commented on as being a Fleetwood Mac album. What was missing? The bed rock was missing. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie were missing. Without them you cannot something that sounds properly like Fleetwood Mac; all you can have is a cabaret version. Close, but no cigar.

I find that is the same with a lot of bands, More so for bands that rely heavily on a certain member for their Sound Signature that would be very hard to Replace if at all.

You could say the same thing about Rick Wright of Pink Floyd. Despite the huge contributions of Gilmour and Waters, without Wright they are simply no longer the same band (well, they are no longer anyway) as their soundscape has gone.

I think they went downhill after Peter Green went away with the faeries.

I like Mick Fleetwood's drumming style, whether he is technically good doesn't generally bother me too much. I find this with Jeff Beck and Jimmy Hendrix, both are technically brilliant guitarists, but I just cannot get on with their music.

I think they went downhill after Peter Green went away with the faeries. I agree. Actually I agree with reservations. I can't think of any album of Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac that's great from start to finish, apart from the Greatest Hits from 1971, and that's only because all the really great stuff was released as singles, and didn't feature on the albums. Post Peter Green they hit high spots in 1975 and 1977, with the eponymous album and Rumours. Both of those a great from start to finish.

I see you're so enamoured with Hendrix that you don't misspell it like Jimi did
