Ive had my eye on a Victor u1-e for it, and a jvc md 1029 which looks very much like an audio technica at12

I always thought those cheap X & Z MM carts were ok. Had one of those 'Z1' on a Townshend 'Avalon'/'Rega 'RB300'

As the jvc is getting far more use than the jbe is, ive decided to upgrade the cart on the jvc. The at150 will stay where it is on the mayware and jbe, and I will be putting a goldring eroica L on the jvc

Put the eroica on it. This is one heck of a combination

I agree the Eroica L is superb and out performs cartridges at far higher price points.

Its very natural indeed, in contrast to some other carts at a higher price point that ive heard that have a strangely unnatural quality to them. As if they have been tweaked to emphasise something. The new audio technica art 9 I found to be like this. Something i couldn't quite put my finger on that was not quite right...

Couldn't agree more. Mayware amps are wonderful. One of the last few special turntable bits that haven't reached silly money.

The 'T24' SUT was one of the best imho. The cartridges were also brilliant especially the 'MC-7V'

Finished another restoration this week. i picked up a LEAK Truspeed turnable for not much money. Couldn't say no at the price. It didn't need a great deal of work as cosmetically it was fine if dull and mucky. The motor was seized as the lady i got it off said it hadn't been used in 30 odd years, so a strip and clean was in order. Everything else was fine, checked the resistor/cap psu and that was fine too. also needed a base making which i've done. Leak truspeed turntable by anthony cresswell, on Flickr The arm is a connie sau2 which is in good nick, abit of autosol to clean up the metal parts and a little bit of setup for the cart which is a goldring g800 Leak truspeed turntable by anthony cresswell, on Flickr gave the suspension a setup and it plays quite nicely Leak truspeed in use by anthony cresswell, on Flickr Can't say I'm particularly enamoured with the G800, but i like different carts to other people, i value clarity and neutralness above warmth and cuddliness. It does make a nice noise though
