For affordable musicality I am a great fan of both the AT95E and the AT110E. About £15 and £20 respectively when I first started using them. The 110 was perhaps more detailed but not quite so rhythmically convincing. Tried the Stilton Solid Body Nagaoka MP11 Gold when current (1986 ish). Much to like but trebble was too laid back for me and musically it didn't really get my feet tapping. Currently using Linn K9 cartridge with AT95 Paratrace stylus on a LINN Sondek LP12. Like it a lot builds on the AT95 but puts in the fine details and dynamics. Also have a Goldring Eroica HX, I like the sound a lot but saving it to use on the Pink Triangle PT1 when up and running.

There's a few cartridges in here that cost more than the total system I'm listening to right now! Music server, DAC, amp, speakers, all cables and stands! Not sure if that makes me stupid, a cheap tight wad, deaf or a total philistine I used to like my AT95E and PL12D

AKG P8ES was a great cartridge. Sounded superb in the mayware arm.

My cartridges are so old now if little used..
The only Koetsu of old I have any time for is the Black in its first two incarnations. Honest, well balanced and pretty truthful to the source and nothing like as coloured as the original Red and Onyx models were, which actually muffled background information together with surface noise (I wasn't using an LP12 at the time either). Later ones may well be a lot better in this digital age and balanced accordingly but they're so silly-expensive I'll never find out.
The Kiseki Agate Ruby was a great one I remember as was the Lapis Lazuli above it I heard once. In fact I think all the vintage Kiseki's were pretty darned good from memory.
The Rega Apheta is a wild one but I understand the current version has been well tamed without losing the verve it returns to music on vinyl. The ZYX R100, some of the better AT's and Dynavectors too leave positive memories.
Loads of others and many new ones which are liked but I haven't heard, but of course the one marque I revere and frustrate over almost in equal measure are DECCAs, even rebuilt ones with fancy tips as mine has!!!!!!! Get a properly made/restored one mounted right in a tonearm it likes and on a suitable deck where the vinyl isn't squidged out of recognition by a soft mat and the results are startlingly accurate and truthful to the source - no flattery of bad pressings but none of it is usually exaggerated ime. Get the blessed thing wrong and it'll be the worst sound you've possible ever had. they're unreliable too, sadly.
