Not half as annoying as people who book one of your courses and then don't pay!

Actually I have no idea, I was nudging at Chris. We do run occasional courses, but so far people have always paid having attended (we invoice after). It would be annoying though if you did all the preparation and someone didn't show up.
I once did one at a large event in Nürnberg and all bar 4 of the people who actually had booked didn't show up. I still got paid the full fee, but it was a bit disheartening - although I changed it on the fly to match better the needs of those who did come (so they were very happy). When I discussed it later with the organiser they said that this often happened and it seems that people coming from certain countries would often book all sorts of courses and things at the events, get approval to attend and then just go shopping and sight-seeing instead. In fact one of the supposed attendees did show up in the last 15 minutes and was very upset that I would not issue him with an attendance certificate!

I mainly saw the conference centre. Mind the park is pretty impressive. I've been to the city centre a few times, but, to be honest, I don't remember much about the place itself. That's the problem of going places for work! No 7 looks pretty oblong to me!

After moaning about the woeful underperformance of our local My Herpes courier, I have to report three deliveries which I have received without a hitch - long may it continue!!

UEFA Champion's League Final ticket allocations.
Ground Capacity - 63,500 Tottenham - 16,613 Liverpool - 16,613 "General Public" - 4,000 Local organising committee, UEFA and national associations, commercial partners and broadcasters. 26,274
Prices • Category 1: £513 (£410 restricted view) • Category 2: £385 (£308 restricted view) • Category 3: £154 (£120 restricted view) • Category 4: £60
Prices on StubHub/ViaGogo etc. - up to £5,500
So that's a smidge over 50% of tickets going to actual fans of the two finalists, and the rest going to people whose only interest in the UEFA Champion's League Final is... Being seen at the UEFA Champion's League Final Being able to invite clients who have no interest in the UEFA Champion's League Final to the UEFA Champion's League Final Being able to sell their UEFA Champion's League Final tickets at a 1000% mark up.
Liverpool and Spurs, the two finalists, have joined forces, and asked the major "corporates" who have been given tickets to "do the right thing" and hand their tickets back so that they can be issued to "real" fans.
I know people on Twitter who are season ticket holders, have been to every game throughout the season, who had to enter a lottery for tickets, and got nothing. I think it's disgraceful that real football fans, actual supporters of the teams in the final, cannot get tickets, but sponsors like Nissan, Playstation, Gazprom, PepsiCo, Banco Santander, Mastercard, Heineken and Expedia get given them.
It's the same story every year, no matter which teams reach the final. As soon as the corporate tickets are issued a large proportion of them immediately appear on secondary ticketing sites at ridiculous prices.
Oh, and even if you are lucky enough to get tickets, airline companies like EasyJet have whacked up their flight prices from £250.00 to £1000,00. It seems that "The whole pricing picture is very dynamic" At peak booking times, EasyJet could fill a plane in six seconds according to EasyJet's chief executive, Johan Lundgren. So, when there's a very high demand they know that they can fleece those desperate to travel. I won't bother to mention accommodation prices, you've probably got the picture by now.

I loved the 'defence' of the Easy Jet CEO - "That is actually how the system works" Yep, can't argue with that, case closed Your Honour!!

News stories (the BBC website is especially guilty) where the person(s) involved are described as Jennifer, Harry, Jerome or some-such (not their real name) and in which, having been introduced, said name is never used again. What is wrong with writing a 25 year old woman, 50 year old man, teenager? The fake name adds nothing to the authenticity or sense of empathy. It's just pointless and very irritating!
